Kagamigaike Park (Yatsushiro City, Kagami-machi): Big Playground, Plenty of Parking, and Just the Right Size for Easy Family Fun!
2026.05.04

Welcome to Kagamigaike Park
Hello there! It’s Aikero, your Sarukuma writer who has finally taken the plunge and bought a recovery shirt.
Today I’m introducing a wonderful spot in Kagami-machi, Yatsushiro City:
Kagamigaike Park.
Just a 15-minute drive from AEON Mall Uki in Ogawa-machi, Uki City!
With a fantastic combination playground, a wide-open lawn, and a proper parking lot, it’s the perfect weekend getaway.
It’s also under an hour’s drive from central Kumamoto City, making it just the right distance for a relaxing day trip.
Kids and parents can both enjoy a full day of shopping and outdoor play (^^)/
We’ve featured this park on Sarukuma before, too!
Use Google Maps navigation to find Kagamigaike Park easily!
There are two parking lots.
This one is a bit further from the playground but offers more spaces,
while this one is closer to the playground and restrooms but has fewer spaces.
You can spot it from the road on the way to the park, so if it doesn’t look crowded, this is the one I’d recommend.
The multi-purpose restroom and one stall in the women’s restroom both have diaper-changing stations.
The women’s restroom has both Japanese-style and Western-style toilets.
Vending machines for ice cream and drinks are located at the restroom entrance.
And there’s a trash can too — such a small thing, but so appreciated!
There’s a covered rest area right next to the restrooms.
A walking path circles around the park.
I thought, “Hey, this would be great for bike practice!”
But unfortunately, dog walking and bike riding are not allowed here…
Highlights of Kagamigaike Park
First up, of course — the combination playground!
There’s a slightly nerve-racking bridge to cross,
My son tried to walk across it standing up at first, but his foot slipped through one of the net holes and he gave up.
Then he figured it out himself and conquered it on all fours!
I initially thought, “Maybe he’ll need help?” but he surprised me by working it out on his own — a sweet reminder of how kids grow.
There are also wobbling logs, so it’s a great spot to let the kids try things while you keep a watchful eye!
There’s a safety net stretched underneath, so even if a foot slips through, it doesn’t seem too dangerous.
The wavy slide is one level higher up.
Adults can slide down too, but watch your head and face on the entrance — yes, I learned that the hard way!
This one isn’t very tall, so even small children can play safely.
In the middle, there’s a bouldering-style climbing feature too.
Next up is a Tarzan-rope-style ride.
The top is built like a rail, and you sit as you slide along.
Some online reviews mentioned it was out of service, but during our visit (May 2026), it was working fine!
Babies and toddlers are welcome too!
There’s a smaller combination playground with a mini slide,
and several spring-rider animal toys — find your kid’s favorite animal!
Swings, too!
And as you can see, there’s tons of white clover all around.
You can hunt for four-leaf clovers or weave flower crowns!
Adults can get moving on the outdoor fitness equipment!
Note: Sarukuma’s previous article mentioned grass skiing, but that’s no longer allowed here.
When I climbed up to check, there was a chain blocking access at the top.
When you head up and walk toward the bridge, a pretty pond comes into view!
I’ve visited this park several times before, but this was actually my first time seeing the pond (^^;)
A leisurely stroll really brings out the little discoveries that make a place special.
There’s also a huge open lawn, so bringing balls, badminton rackets, or jump ropes makes the day even more fun (^^)/
We brought a picnic blanket and lunch and had a wonderful picnic ourselves!
And right next to AEON Mall Uki, you’ll find Nagomi Onsen Yasuragi-no-Yu, so wrapping up the day with a hot spring soak sounds amazing too!
This weekend, why not take a little drive and enjoy some relaxed outdoor play?
It’s also a great idea to combine your visit with other nearby parks and outing spots.
