About Kagamigaike Park

Hello travelers! This is Chomo, a writer for [Sarukuma].

Today we’re heading to Kagami-machi Kamikagami in Yatsushiro City to explore
Kagamigaike Park.

This expansive park features grass skiing slopes and a fantastic playground area — perfect for a relaxed day out with kids.

There are two parking areas: a larger main lot and a smaller one closer to the park with space for about 5 to 6 cars.
If you’re traveling with a baby, we recommend the closer lot for easier access.

Right next to the parking lot you’ll find universal-access restrooms and Western-style toilets.

There’s also a dedicated diaper-changing station.
Always a relief to find one in a public park!

There’s a hand-washing station too, and the whole area is impressively clean and well-maintained.

There are vending machines and covered rest areas, making it a comfortable spot to spend the day.
The vending area also has trash bins, and you’ll even find Seventeen Ice — a favorite among Japanese kids.

There’s playground equipment suitable even for 1- to 2-year-olds.
The play area is decorated with adorable animal figures kids will love.

There are two types of slides too.
This one is a fun spiral-shaped slide.

And this gentler slide is designed for smaller children.
There’s also a combination play structure with a jungle gym and tunnels.

A little further in, we even spotted rock-climbing-style equipment!

There’s plenty of shade from the trees, making it a wonderful spot for a picnic on a sunny day.

Look down and you’ll see acorns scattered everywhere.
Little ones will be thrilled to collect them!

One corner of the park features a “Wellness Plaza.”
It’s a welcoming space where parents and grandparents can join in the fun too.

Kagamigaike Park: Top Highlights

â‘  Grass Skiing

On the day of our visit, the park was buzzing with families. One parent told us they’d brought a grass-skiing sled from Daiso (a popular 100-yen shop in Japan).
Kids without gear were having just as much fun — sliding down on their bottoms or rolling all the way down the slope.

â‘¡ Water Play

There’s a small flowing stream tucked into the park.
My little one absolutely loves water — he had a blast splashing around and hunting for tiny creatures.
We recommend wearing clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, and definitely bring a change of clothes!
