Welcome to Kairoguchi Children’s Park
Hello, fellow travelers! I’m Aikero, a writer for Sarukuma.
Today I’m sharing a hidden local gem in Kairoguchi-machi, Minami Ward, Kumamoto City:
Kairoguchi Children’s Park (海路口児童公園).
Nearby, you’ll find two other lovely spots Sarukuma has previously featured: Petit Bouquet (a charming icing-cookie shop) and the Kumamoto Port Waterfront Green Plaza ♪

The park sits right next to Kairoguchi Nursery School, and the cute red tomato sign in the photo is your landmark.
There’s plenty of parking space, and we even spotted a few visitors taking a relaxing break in their cars.
Heads-up: bicycles are not allowed inside the park, so please leave the wheels at the entrance (^^)/
A handy hand-wash and drinking-water station is right by the entrance — perfect for messy hands and thirsty kids.
Along the field, you’ll spot a row of adorable frog-shaped benches lined up — picture-perfect and a hit with little ones (●^o^●)
These benches sit beneath shade trees, so depending on the time of day, you can enjoy a cool, shaded rest.
The grounds at Kairoguchi Children’s Park are wide and open — kids can run to their heart’s content!
Kairoguchi Children’s Park: Highlights for Families

A grassy hill with a concrete pipe tunnel running right through it!
Just the sight of it sparks instant excitement for kids (^○^)
Climbing poles, perhaps? The quirky, twisty design is sure to spark curiosity in any child ♪
There are four poles in total — perfect for a friendly climbing race between siblings or new park friends ♪
Just behind the climbing poles, you’ll find a set of monkey bars.
There’s even a spider-web style climbing structure! Overall, the equipment here really gets kids moving and using their whole bodies (^^)
Of course, the classic park favorite — swings — are tucked toward the back.
And here’s another playful surprise — an unusual slide built to spark curiosity!
It’s the kind of slide that finally lets kids do what they always wish they could: climb up from the bottom!
You can almost picture children running, climbing, and using their imagination freely (●^o^●)
The park is close to the sea and surrounded by farm fields, so the breeze can be quite strong!
Do note that there are no public restrooms on site, so please plan ahead (>_<)
If you visit during cooler months, bundle up well and come ready to play (^O^)
