About the Shop

Hello there!

Three meals a day is never enough for me —
I’m Binako, a writer for Sarukuma!

Today I’m excited to introduce a charming little bakery called
“DACCO bread+cafe”,
tucked away in Kawayo, Minamiaso Village, Aso District, Kumamoto Prefecture.

You’ll spot it right next to the local JA (agricultural co-op) building!

There’s plenty of parking right out front.

Step inside and you’re greeted by a glittering display case full of freshly baked bread.
It’s seriously gorgeous — almost too pretty to eat!

Pavé — 100 yen
A gently sweet bread with a texture similar to Japanese shokupan (milk bread).
It’s perfect for making sandwiches, too!

And here’s the pavé in action, transformed into a delicious sandwich:
Spanish Omelette Sandwich — 320 yen + tax

Fresh-from-the-oven seasonal pizza was also on display!

Butter Chicken Curry Bread!?
Not just curry bread —
Butter Chicken Curry Bread!?
I just noticed it now… that has to be amazing!
Next time, I’m definitely buying one.

Also fresh out of the oven —
edamame bread and an autumn focaccia ♪

And check this out!
The wallet-friendly 20% OFF zone!
This little corner makes any traveler smile.

Dacco Shokupan (signature milk bread) — 280 yen per loaf / 560 yen per full loafThey have drinks, too!

Coffee is also available for purchase.

Best of all, there’s an eat-in space inside —
perfect for a relaxed lunch with kids or friends after a morning exploring Aso!

Recommended Menu

This time I picked up:
Edamame & Cheese Bread — 230 yen
Chocolate Bread — 140 yen
Sausage Bread — 200 yen

First up — the
Edamame & Cheese Bread!

Still warm from the oven…
Pure happiness.

Honestly, it was emotional —
insanely delicious!!

The pop of the edamame texture
pairs perfectly with the salty, rich cheese.
Seriously — it was gone before I knew it.

Next up, this beauty!

This sausage bread is made with brown rice dough, so I grabbed one immediately.
That snappy bite of sausage is absolutely irresistible.
Cheese plus sausage = unbeatable combo.

Then I tried the chocolate bread.

The chunky pieces of chocolate inside
will make any chocoholic weak in the knees.

Each crunchy bite of rich chocolate
blends with the soft bread for absolute
pure-bliss territory~~~

From the warm aromas to the friendly staff,
this bakery is one of the cosiest little spots you can find in Minamiaso.
