Today I’m taking you to Hikawa Town in Yatsushiro District,
【Kyugen Shoten Sozai-ya】 — a charming handmade deli shop.As you head south on National Route 3 toward Yatsushiro, you’ll spot a 7-Eleven Hikawa Miyahara on your right.

Kyugen Shoten Sozai-ya sits right across the street!
There’s parking for 3 cars right in front of the shop.
The building has a sleek, sophisticated look, and the menu boards are beautifully modern too!
Through the glass display, you can see rows of mouthwatering Japanese deli items lined up beautifully.

Cheese Chikuwa (cheese-stuffed fish cake): ¥200 each

Imokko Genbo (sweet potato sticks, 7-piece pack): ¥430
Sold by weight: Tori-ten (Japanese-style chicken tempura) ¥270 per 100g (about 3.4 pieces)

Kyugen Shoten Sozai-ya offers a wonderful rotating menu of daily specials.
Look out for fun creations like “Pera-katchan” — a thin, curry-flavored tonkatsu — or “Osamu Dokitsu!”, a sweet-and-salty sweet potato chip. The names alone make you smile!The weather was lovely, so I enjoyed my haul at a nearby park!

Just look at this menchi katsu — packed full of juicy filling!

And can you tell from the photo? The sweet potato tempura was absolutely massive — made with Beni Haruka sweet potatoes from Ozu, perfectly fluffy and incredibly satisfying!The Chicken Rice Bento is like a greatest hits collection of all the delicious deli items — my top pick if you can’t decide!

One more tip: their hugely popular Imo Manju (sweet potato bun) became reservation-only starting March 7. To order, please call or visit the shop in person (DMs are not accepted).

It’s limited to 6 pieces per person, and orders close once the daily quota is reached — so plan ahead!
