About the Cafe

Hello, travelers!

It’s Binako, your SaruKuma writer, reporting in with a stomach that’s a little too full from all the deliciousness!

Today I’m introducing a wonderful spot located in Matsubase, Matsubase-machi, Uki City, Kumamoto Prefecture:
“Cafe Itsuki”.

This brand-new cafe opened on January 16,
and it isn’t just a cafe — Cafe Itsuki also hosts culture classes,
including pelvic correction exercise and yoga programs, among others.
If you’re curious, the official website has all the details!

Convenient parking is available right in front of the cafe.

Right inside the entrance on the left, you’ll find a handy washing station — perfect for freshening up before your meal.

The interior is bathed in beautiful natural light — truly a lovely space.
Please note that Cafe Itsuki is reservation-only for the time being,
so we strongly recommend booking ahead before your visit.

Toward the back, there’s a cozy counter seating area — great for solo travelers who want to enjoy a relaxed meal on their own.

And here’s a fantastic feature —
the self-serve drink bar!
With everything from coffee to juices, both adults and kids can sip to their heart’s content.

Heading upstairs to the second floor, you’ll find the culture class room.
Classes begin in February and operate on a reservation system.

The changing room even comes with a powder room where you can touch up your makeup —
a thoughtful, welcoming environment full of little kindnesses.

Here’s the February schedule — you can also check it on the official website!

The second floor also features a terrace, which will be available by reservation —
a perfect spot to leisurely enjoy a coffee.
And at night, it’s beautifully lit up for a magical atmosphere…
I’d love to come back for an evening visit!

The first floor also has a terrace, and here’s the wonderful surprise —
pets are welcome!
How lovely is it to enjoy lunch with your beloved furry companion?

And if you step through the door at the back of the first-floor terrace…

…you’ll find a spacious dog run!

What?! Are you kidding me?!
This is absolutely amazing!

It’s a brand-new style of cafe packed with fun and charm —
I couldn’t stop feeling excited the entire visit.

From lunch through to late-night drinks, this cafe has it all!

This time, I went with the
Itsuki Lunch Course — 1,650 yen!

First up, a fresh appetizer salad.

I just have to shout it from the rooftops.
This homemade dressing is
absolutely incredible!
So good I wish they’d bottle it and sell it.

The salad is loaded with fresh fruits and plenty of beans —
light, refreshing, and luxurious all at once.

Next, the soup — fragrant with yuzu citrus, with an aroma you simply have to experience.

It’s bursting with savory umami flavor — be sure to drink every last drop!

Here it comes — the main dish!
Today’s main was my all-time favorite: hamburger steak!

Loaded with plenty of fresh vegetables.

Cut into it and
juicy goodness comes pouring out
irresistibly delicious!

Just look at that!
Those glistening, shimmering meat juices…

And it tastes every bit as amazing as it looks.
The hamburger sauce is fantastic too — between the sauce and the juices,
I didn’t want to leave a single drop of that umami behind.
I savored every bite.

And next, dessert — a beautiful slice of cake.
Ahh, pure bliss.

I couldn’t help but smile from ear to ear.

There’s always room for dessert, right?

The fluffy sponge paired with light, melt-in-your-mouth whipped cream is simply divine.
The tartness of the strawberries plays beautifully against the sweetness of the cake —
it practically melts down on its own.

Despite being busy, the staff took the time to chat warmly with us, and
every single guest looked like they were having a wonderful time.

It’s such a homey, welcoming place that you’ll find yourself wanting to say
“I’m home!”
the moment you walk in.
