Introducing Yokohama Iekei Ramen Hatsunoya

Hello there!
This is Binako, your Sarukuma writer!

Today I’m thrilled to introduce you to
“Yokohama Iekei Ramen Hatsunoya,”
located in Tsukure, Kikuyo Town, Kikuchi District, Kumamoto Prefecture.

The shop sits right next to the popular Ogura no Karaage (Japanese fried chicken specialty) in Kikuyo.

Nearby, you’ll also find “Ayun TERRACE,” a charming spot we’ve featured on Sarukuma before.

Convenient parking is available right in front of the shop.

And here’s a delightful bonus: a notice on the entrance reads “You may bring in karaage from Ogura no Karaage” (bento boxes are not allowed).
Isn’t ramen with crispy Japanese fried chicken just the ultimate combination?
The fact that they happily allow this collaboration is genuinely fantastic.

Inside, you’ll find both counter seating and table seats.
There’s even a tucked-away counter spot in the back that feels like a hidden gem.

A bold sign declaring “Iekei is the Best!” perfectly captures the passion behind this beloved ramen style.

Look further toward the back and you’ll spot another sign revealing that you can customize the oil level, broth richness, and noodle firmness β€” letting you craft your perfect bowl exactly to your taste.

Each table is also stocked with classic Japanese condiments like garlic and other toppings to personalize your bowl.

And here’s something especially welcome for families β€” they happily provide a small sharing dish for kids.
As a parent who still shares meals with my little one, this thoughtful touch made my day.

Must-Try Menu Items at Yokohama Iekei Ramen Hatsunoya

This time, I ordered the
・Ajitama Ramen (seasoned soft-boiled egg ramen, Β₯810).

You order using a ticket vending machine β€” a typical Japanese ramen shop experience.
(Unfortunately, I couldn’t snap a photo of the machine since it was peak lunch hour!)

First up β€” just look at this generous slice of chashu (braised pork)!
The moment my son saw it, he immediately cried out, “I want some!!”

Watching him take big, joyful bites told me everything I needed to know about how delicious it was.

And then there’s the ajitama β€” a soft-boiled egg with the most irresistibly runny golden yolk.

This one also went straight into my son’s mouth.
“Yummy! I really love this!” he announced, giving his very own little food review.

The thick, hearty noodles soak up the broth beautifully, delivering that satisfying chew that Iekei ramen is famous for.

The soup strikes a perfect balance β€” surprisingly easy-drinking yet rich with the mellow, deeply savory essence of tonkotsu (pork bone) broth.

This is a wonderfully welcoming ramen spot for families with kids.
