Hello there!
This is Nanako, a Sarukuma writer whose motto is “Sweets are justice!!”

Today I’m introducing a delightful spot located inside Ambee Kumamoto in Takeba, Koshi City, Kumamoto Prefecture:
“VOLONTE”.

If you’ve followed Sarukuma, you may already know we’ve featured Akaito and Teppanyaki Taro at Ambee Kumamoto before.

VOLONTE is the long-awaited sweets takeaway shop at Ambee Kumamoto!

And it specializes in tarts! As a tart lover myself, I couldn’t contain my excitement!

The shop sits within the same complex as Akaito, just a little further down the row.

The parking lot is spacious โ€” perfect for picking up a treat while running errands!

See?

Here’s the sign right in front of the shop.

The phrase “Egao no Kokorozashi” (Aspiration of Smiles) is such a lovely sentiment โ€” it puts you in a great mood before you even step inside!

The interior is so stylish!

Cute decorations are tucked away not just near the cake display case, but throughout the back of the shop too!

Being surrounded by adorable details just lifts your spirits, doesn’t it?

The tarts are sold by the slice, but whole tarts can also be purchased with a reservation.

There’s a handy size chart with prices for each, so you can see exactly what you’re getting โ€” very reassuring!

They accept various payment methods, including credit cards and electronic payments.

Personally, when you’ve got kids in tow, digging out your wallet is a hassle, so I really appreciate that PayPay (mobile payment) is accepted.

Recommended Menu

On the day I visited, there were 5 kinds of tarts, 3 kinds of quiche, and an apple pie on display.

All prices below are tax included.

Chocolate Tart โ€” 421 yen

Chocolate paired with pistachio mousse โ€” what a heavenly combination!

Citrus Tart โ€” 408 yen

Packed with Kumamoto-grown Dekopon and other citrus fruits.
It looks like a jewel box โ€” absolutely stunning.

Mont Blanc Tart โ€” 425 yen

Autumn means chestnuts! You can really feel the season in this one.

Fruit Tart โ€” 406 yen

Just look how charming this is! Topped with five different fruits โ€” it’s bound to be delicious.

Niitaka Pear Tart โ€” 450 yen

This one features the famous Kumamoto-grown Niitaka pear.
As a Kumamoto local, I just had to try it at least once!

Morning-Baked Apple Pie โ€” 198 yen

An apple pie for under 200 yen?! That’s incredible value.
This looks absolutely delicious too.

Now, on to the quiches!

Tuna & Mushroom Quiche โ€” 437 yen

Loaded with tuna cream sauce, mushrooms, and plenty of cheese โ€” my appetite is officially activated!

Tomato Quiche โ€” 437 yen

The toppings are like a pizza lineup!
It would work as a savory dish โ€” or as the perfect companion to a glass of wine.

Pumpkin Quiche โ€” 437 yen

Pumpkin filled with domestic ground beef sautรฉed with Italian herbs.

A limited edition only available until Halloween โ€” definitely a must-try!

Everything looked so tempting and I had a hard time deciding, but in the end I picked up two and enjoyed them at the park with my son.

First up โ€” the
Niitaka Pear Tart!

The diced pears glisten like jewels.

The pristine white whipped cream behind them is gorgeous too.
The well-balanced beauty is mesmerizing.

Look at it from the side โ€” just look!

It’s absolutely packed with diced pear!
For 450 yen, this is incredible value!

The crisp, juicy pear pairs beautifully with the distinctive cinnamon notes โ€” utterly delicious.

The whipped cream isn’t too sweet, which lets the pear’s natural sweetness really shine.
My son absolutely loved it and devoured his portion.

Next up: the Mont Blanc Tart!

Generous marron cream is topped with both candied chestnuts and chestnuts in inner-skin syrup โ€” a double dose!

How luxurious!

This one is impressive from the side too!

The cream inside is generously studded with whole chestnuts.

The cream itself isn’t overly sweet, allowing the natural sweetness of the chestnuts to come through beautifully.

That chestnut-laced cream is irresistible โ€” and the hint of rum just elevates everything!

The kind of flavor you wish would never end!

This time I went with two autumn-inspired tarts, but next visit I’d love to try the quiches.

VOLONTE isn’t just a quick stop while shopping โ€”
it’s a destination worth visiting in its own right. A truly delicious and charming shop!

Definitely give it a try!

One note: there’s no restroom in the shop itself, but Ambee Kumamoto has restrooms nearby with diaper-changing facilities.

The local product center and Nishimuta supermarket also offer kids’ shopping carts, and many of the restaurants are family-friendly. Ambee Kumamoto is a great spot for a day out with kids!
Be sure to combine your visit with Akaito and Teppanyaki Taro as well!
