Hello there!
I’m Nanako, a writer for SaruKuma!
Today I’m taking you to
Ikutomi in Koshi City, Kumamoto Prefecture,
to a place called Sushi Madoka Koshi.
This conveyor belt sushi (kaiten-zushi) chain originated in Kagoshima
and now has locations across Kagoshima, Miyazaki, Kumamoto, and Oita.
In Kumamoto, there are four locations: two in Hitoyoshi, one in Minamata, one in Kumamoto City, and this one in Koshi.

Coming from central Kumamoto City, take the Kita Bypass to the Kikuchi-Ozu Line (Prefectural Route 49) heading toward Koshi.
The restaurant sits near the Musashigaoka area, right by an intersection with a Shin-Chuka Chinese restaurant and a 7-Eleven.
Turn left at the intersection in the photo, and you’ll see it on your right.

With colorful banners (nobori flags) out front and the restaurant name displayed boldly on the building, it’s easy to spot.
The parking lot is spacious — there’s room for more than ten cars beyond what’s shown in the photo.

The entrance is clearly marked.

And here’s what we came for —
the poster on the door.
This isn’t your average conveyor belt sushi place; the quality is a step above.
And yet, during lunch hours, every plate is just 150 yen!
As a sushi lover, this is one of my absolute favorite spots!
There’s a roomy waiting area between the entrance and the dining floor.

The counter seating is generously spaced, and there are about six table seats toward the back.

The staff kindly asked whether we’d prefer the counter or a table.
My son loves watching the conveyor belt go round, so we picked the counter.

Children’s chairs are available, too.

At table seats, this booster chair is secured for kids.

Children’s tableware is available on a self-serve basis.

Although it’s called a kaiten-zushi restaurant, sushi doesn’t actually circulate on the belt here —
the sushi chefs hand-press each piece to order right in front of you.

Each seat has an order slip and a pencil.
Write down the toppings (neta) you want, hand it to a staff member or chef, and they’ll prepare it fresh.
Filling out your own order is half the fun!
Now then —
let the treat-yourself feast begin!
Recommended Menu Items

Here’s the lunch menu.
Classics like tuna (maguro), shrimp (ebi), and salmon are joined by premium picks like
fatty tuna belly (maguro no harami toro), fresh Hokkaido octopus (kita-nama dako), and engawa (flounder fin muscle).
You can enjoy toppings here for 150 yen that you simply won’t find at most conveyor belt sushi chains!
And here’s something families will love — kid-friendly favorites are even cheaper:
crab-shaped sausage
French fries
tamago (sweet egg)
tuna salad —
all just 135 yen each!
There’s still more to love.
Check this out.

A separate sheet lists the daily specials, and on this visit,
seared otoro (premium fatty tuna), one piece — 150 yen!!
Ordered immediately.

In front: himedai (red snapper). Behind: otoro.
The himedai is firm and springy. The otoro melts in your mouth.
Pure indulgence…

In the evenings, the maguro toro-toro goes for 280 yen per plate.
It also melts away the moment it hits your tongue, leaving rich flavor behind!

The crab-shaped sausage I ordered for my son.
He loved the cute shape and gobbled it right up.

And the French fries.
A generous portion for just 135 yen.
Freshly fried and fluffy — another big hit with my son.
I also enjoyed grilled salmon belly with mayo, seared mackerel with soy sauce, fresh octopus, and engawa,
while my son happily munched on karaage (Japanese fried chicken) and tamago.
We had such a wonderful time together.
So delicious!

After paying the bill, kids even get a free toy — a sweet little touch.
The staff were warm and friendly with my son, making this a wonderfully kid-friendly spot for families.
A cut above your usual sushi experience.
Why not treat yourself to a well-deserved reward lunch here?
