Milcoro Labo in Koshi City: A Reborn Dairy Farm Café Perfect for Family Lunch in Kumamoto
2025.06.14

A Sarukuma writer visits “Milcoro Labo” in Suya, Koshi City, and shares an on-the-ground report. We’ve also rounded up family-friendly tips, access info, and opening hours.
Introducing Milcoro Labo
Hello, fellow dairy lovers!
This is Kurubushi, a writer for [Sarukuma]!
Today I’m introducing a wonderful spot in Suya, Koshi City:
[Milcoro Labo]!
This is a café directly run by Oyabu Dairy Farm.
It used to operate under the name [Milcoro],
but on September 14, 2024, it was reborn as [Milcoro Labo] just across the street♪
The original [Milcoro] was already famous for its incredibly stylish package designs,
and the new shop is just as cute, just as chic, just as delicious — a space that fills you up in every way.
Right next door, you’ll also find Kuroishi Garden, the kids’ secret hideaway.
[MILK’ORO] Heart-melting sweets made from freshly harvested milk (Suya, Koshi City)
[Oyabu Dairy Farm] An award-winning farm right here in Koshi! (Suya, Koshi City)
[Kuroishi Garden] A huge play space where you can run, eat, and laugh!

Wow, even the new sign is so stylish!

The interior is spacious, with three sofa-style seating areas!

There are also counter seats — a relaxed spot perfect for solo travelers too♪

The chairs are made from milk cans! It’s these little details that make the place so charming.

Inside, there are even cute cow toys — children are absolutely welcome here♪
Of course my little BOSS loved them, climbing on with a huge grin.

There’s also a foldable baby crib available♪
Even with a sleeping baby, parents can relax with peace of mind☆彡

Picture books are also provided.

Milcoro Labo runs on a prepaid, self-service system.
Since the small staff team handles everything, it’s the kind of place to visit when you have time to relax and enjoy yourself♪

Free water and other drinks are also provided♪

The restrooms are all-white and beautifully designed!

There are two restrooms, so you’ll never have to wait long.

There’s a hand-washing station outside too, so no worries after playing on the farm!

Is that a wood-burning stove that looks like a campfire?
It feels just like a resort here☆彡

You know those big white round bales you sometimes see in farming areas?
They’re actually feed (hay) for cows — and there’s a corner here where you can draw on them!
Where else can you have an experience like this?

My son was completely absorbed, drawing with a serious expression.
The portrait in the foreground is one fellow Sarukuma writer Aikero drew of him♪
Even adults can’t resist picking up a pen!

You can get up close to the goats and feed them leaves —
they’ll happily munch right out of your hand!
My son was a little nervous, so he kept his distance…
When he was younger he used to feed them right from his hand, but I guess as kids grow up they can become more cautious (lol).
Depending on the season, you might also see newborn baby animals — they’re unbelievably adorable!
Seasonal experiences include calf bottle-feeding and a cornfield maze,
making this a wonderful place to feel up close to dairy farming and ranch life!

There’s parking in front of the old shop, plus more parking behind Kuroishi Garden next door.
Recommended Menu at Milcoro Labo

The signature menu is, of course, ice cream and drinks made with the farm’s own fresh milk.
Lassi and smoothies made from their homemade yogurt are also super popular.
Whether you dine in or take out, drinks are served in cute round plastic cups,
so you can enjoy them however you like depending on the weather♪

Once Milcoro Labo opened up its eat-in space,
they also began offering lunch menus!
Items featuring Milcoro’s special yogurt dip and the farm’s own beef rotate seasonally.
Check Instagram for the latest updates!

The yogurt that comes with the lunch set is unlimited refills!
Milcoro’s yogurt is unlike store-bought varieties — it has two layers, a creamy top and a yogurt base, with a truly special flavor.
And free refills? Almost too good to be true.
Highly, highly recommended!!

Beyond dine-in, they also sell yogurt and other dairy products.
Here’s the refrigerated section.
Aging Yogurt, Soft-Set Yoguruchio, Yogurt Dip +1
And here’s the frozen section.
Pistachio Bavarois, Chocolate Bavarois, Berry Bavarois, Strawberry Cream Bavarois
Milk Pudding, Marble Pudding, Milcoro Ganache
Stock varies — please check availability when you visit!

The Milcoro Ganache —
I had just seen it on a national TV broadcast a few days earlier,
so I was thrilled when I spotted it: “Hey! That’s the one I saw on TV!”
It’s a yogurt made by fermenting Jersey milk with white chocolate, with the taste of fresh chocolate truffle.
Can you even imagine that flavor from the description alone?

Of course I bought one!
The shop recommended spreading it on baguette or fruit, so I tried it on a baguette.
The first bite hits with the tang of yogurt, then chocolate sweetness and richness, finishing crisp and clean.
It’s a flavor unlike anything I’ve ever tasted — and absolutely delicious.
No wonder it made national TV!

And this Yogurt Dip!

When I visited, the lunch menu had a curry doria,
and Yogurt Dip +1 was used as the sauce!
It paired beautifully with the spicy curry, mellow and delicious.
Curious about other ways to enjoy it, I picked up a jar.

I’d seen on Milcoro’s Instagram that they put it on kimchi, so I had to try it right away.
Adding yogurt to kimchi? Not something I would’ve ever imagined in my life.
But my curiosity was unstoppable.
One bite, and — wow, it’s amazing!!!
The kimchi’s heat softens, and the tang of the kimchi pairs beautifully with the yogurt’s tang.
The yogurt dip is fantastic on its own,
but pour or spread it on a side dish and the flavors expand even more — you’ll want to put it on everything.
Honestly, every visitor to Milcoro Labo should take this home (no, really).

They also offer gift sets — perfect for souvenirs or presents.
I’d love to send a gift like this — and receive one too!

One bite of the yogurt and my son broke into this huge smile.
He normally refuses plain yogurt no matter what — but here he polished it off, beaming the whole time!

This was on a different visit — Milcoro’s soft-serve is wonderfully light and easy to enjoy♪

This is the make-your-own-butter set you can enjoy in-store!
It looked so fun, I ordered one right away!

My son was thrilled by the unique experience.
But you have to shake it really hard, so eventually it became,
“Mom, you finish it!” — and I shook with all my might.

After a while, it separates into a solid and a liquid!
We spread it on the rice-flour bread that comes with the set!
Fresh-made butter — pure, delicate milk flavor. What a precious experience!
And quietly, the rice-flour bread was unexpectedly delicious too (lol).

And here are the two most popular menu items:
Soft-Serve and Yogurt with Cheesecake on the side, and Chunky Strawberry Yogurt Lassi.
Soft-serve and yogurt with cheesecake on the side? That’s all the best things in one — incredible value!
If you can’t decide, go with this!
The Chunky Strawberry Yogurt Lassi isn’t just Instagram-perfect —
it’s a happy, delicious drink combining sweet-tart frozen strawberries with yogurt lassi♪
Where else can you find such a rich farm experience just minutes from central Kumamoto City?
A true “laboratory” continually creating dairy products you’ve never tasted before!
How about adding it to your next Kumamoto outing?♪
