About the Farm

Hello there!
This is Kurumikko, your Saru-Kuma writer (^^)

Today we’re introducing
“Oyabu Dairy Farm”,
tucked away in Suya, Koshi City, Kumamoto Prefecture.

Believe it or not, this little farm sits right behind a quiet residential neighborhood in Suya, Koshi City!A real working dairy farm!
The location is so unexpected that I was completely surprised the first time I dropped by.

You’ll find about five parking spaces right in front of the farm, and there’s a larger parking lot just a 20-second walk away. There’s even a cute caterpillar-shaped play structure that kids will love!

Parents and kids can learn about dairy farming and the cows together — it’s hands-on fun the whole family will enjoy (*‘∀‘)
The farm’s own café “Mirucoro” serves up soft-serve ice cream and other irresistible sweets!

What We Loved

Spend a relaxed afternoon meeting the friendly goats and cows ♪The moment I lifted my camera, this curious goat strolled right up and posed for the perfect close-up shot (*´▽`*)
My little one started off shy but soon warmed up and was chatting away with the goats 🤩And then there are the cows!

You can get incredibly close to them, and my child was squealing with delight.
The fresh hay sits right by the fence, so I was able to snap photos this close up!

Being able to see real cows almost within reach was thrilling for both of us!
If you’re lucky, you might even meet a baby calf! When we visited in mid-November, little Maruko-chan was there to greet us (*’▽’*)

The hugely popular cornfield maze opens free of charge during:
・Early June through mid-July
・September through mid-NovemberRight after planting, the corn is knee-high, but it shoots up to about 3 meters tall!
It’s harvested in mid-July and mid-November and used as feed for the cows (^^)

Just hearing the words “cornfield maze” gets me excited!
I’m already planning to bring the kids back next year to take it on (*’▽’*)
