๐Ÿ“Œ What You’ll Learn in This Article
A Sarukuma writer visits Tablier, a charming French-style takeout bakery in Kanayama, Arao City. Prices start from just 340 yen. We’ve also rounded up family-friendly tips, access info, and opening hours.

Introducing Tablier

Hello travelers! It’s Gachako, your Sarukuma writer.

Today I’m taking you to Kanayama in Arao City, Kumamoto, to visit
Tablier โ€” a delightful little French-inspired takeout shop.

Newly opened in June 2022. But here’s the thing โ€”
our family had previously hired the owner for her private home-cooking service (note: this service is no longer offered), where she would whip up an amazing variety of dishes using whatever we had in the fridge.

In just three hours, she would prepare 11 different dishes plus a strawberry chocolate galette for dessert (photo above is from those days).
A true lifesaver for busy households!
She’s also supported other restaurants in the area โ€” a genuine culinary professional.
We had been counting down the days until her shop opened!

Now you don’t need to invite her over โ€” you can simply pick up her delicious French-style cooking right here in Arao!

There are two parking spaces in front of the shop.

The moment you step inside, an irresistible aroma hits you. Get ready to drool ๐Ÿคค.

Carrot Cake โ€” 340 yen
Quiche Bolognese โ€” 400 yen

Crispy Scone with Thick-Cut Chocolate โ€” 400 yen

Soy Milk & Oil Lemon Scone โ€” 230 yen

Almond Biscotti โ€” 280 yen

Lemon Cake โ€” 320 yen

The menu centers around quiches, scones, and baked treats, with seasonal rotations to keep things fresh and exciting.

Tablier’s Recommended Menu

I picked up the carrot cake, the crispy scone with thick chocolate, and the corn & cream cheese quiche.
Even the takeout bag is adorable โ€” it makes a perfect little gift to bring to friends.

Crispy Scone with Thick Chocolate
The chocolate slab is ridiculously thick โ€” and apparently it gets thicker by the day! (haha)
That playful generosity really reflects the chef’s wonderful personality.
Inside the chocolate, you’ll find marshmallows, nuts, and dried fruits.
The scone itself is lighter and crispier than usual, perfectly balancing the rich chocolate.
Delicious, delicious, delicious (yes, it’s worth saying three times).

Next up โ€” the carrot cake.
Baked in a generously sized pound mold, this slice is impressively hefty.
It’s loaded with carrots, raisins, and other goodies. Pure happiness in every bite.
Substantial enough to be a meal on its own โ€” and it would pair beautifully with a glass of wine.

The corn and cream cheese quiche has a wonderfully crisp, flaky bottom crust.
The luxurious chunks of cream cheese and the natural sweetness of corn make this seriously addictive.
(I’ve tried recreating this crisp crust at home โ€” and I just can’t, chef!! ๐Ÿ˜ญ)

You’ll also find limited-edition deli sets, shrimp curry, coffee, and seasonings on offer.

The shop is open Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
