Welcome to Princess Tart Kumamoto

Hello there, travelers! It’s “Gussan” here.
I’m currently eating cup yakisoba noodles that got a little soggy because I got distracted.
The moment you take your eyes off it, cup yakisoba refuses to bless you with its peak form, doesn’t it?

Anyway, I recently had a chance to head into the city and visited a hugely popular new spot, so let me share it with you.Opened on September 23, 2023, in Ansei-machi, Chuo Ward, Kumamoto City (right in front of Sannenzaka TSUTAYA), this is
【Princess Tart Kumamoto】.
This stylish tart shop has been buzzing across social media since the day it opened ♡

It’s the sister shop of flour + water, the bakery cafe inside HAB@, and even on a weekday afternoon there was a line out the door.

Step inside Princess Tart Kumamoto and you’re greeted by a glass case glittering with gorgeous tarts ♡
There are several signature tarts on offer year-round, but the fruit tarts rotate with the seasons.
A tart that captures the beauty of the season — perfect as a souvenir or gift!Persimmon and Vanilla Tart (780 yen), Matcha and Tiramisu Tart,
Blueberry and Rare Cheese Tart (880 yen),

Orange Peel and Earl Grey Tart (680 yen), and the Princess Lemon Tart (680 yen) — a colorful lineup that makes choosing nearly impossible.
The Princess Lemon Tart is the signature item that gives Princess Tart Kumamoto its name.

Princess Tart Kumamoto is the sister shop of flour + water, the bakery cafe on the first floor of HAB@.
You can also enjoy croissants and flavored teas served at flour + water here.
Add 750 yen to the price of any tart and you’ll get a set with soup, an “angel croissant,” a drink, and your tart. Add 1,000 yen and you’ll get pizza, a drink, and a tart — perfect for lunch or afternoon tea.

Recommended Menu at Princess Tart Kumamoto

This time, I went with the Fresh Chocolate and Berry Tart (680 yen) to enjoy in the cafe.
The signature Princess Lemon Tart was tempting, but — chocolate and berries? I’m powerless against them.

Even the cross-section is so beautiful it almost feels wrong to eat it!
I couldn’t help grinning to myself.
Stop it! Don’t tempt the heart of a 40-something eating tart alone!!!

Crisp, flaky tart shell, rich and silky fresh chocolate, and the bright tang of berries.
“So good!” — it’s not just looks!
I absolutely should have grabbed a second tart for the table.
For takeout, this is how the tarts are packaged.
The paper bags and boxes have such stylish designs — they’d make any recipient happy as a gift!

Since the lineup changes with the seasons, I’m already looking forward to my next visit.
By the way, you can also pick up cooler packs, forks, and candles in the shop.

At first I thought there was no signboard, but I finally spotted it! Haha.
The understated touch is part of the charm ♡ And the name “Princess Tart” is just lovely ♡

There’s both terrace seating and indoor table seating available.
