We’re excited to share a wonderful family-friendly music event happening in Kumamoto this summer ♪

The event is called “Family Concert with Night Market”!

Get ready for live performances of beloved children’s songs, energetic dance shows, hands-on instrument experiences, and a play area packed with toys that even babies will adore. There’s also a delicious food zone featuring karaage (Japanese fried chicken), takoyaki, bagels and more, plus shateki (target shooting games), kids’ nail art, handmade crafts and creative workshops.

The night market is held entirely indoors, so you can enjoy that classic Japanese summer festival vibe in cool comfort ♪

Date, Time & Location

Date & Time: Saturday, August 9, 2025, 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Venue: Care Port Mashiki
Admission: 500 yen (entry fee required only for the Community Hall area)
Parking: Available at Hiroyaso, located on the south side of Care Port Mashiki

Live Music & Instrument and Dance Experiences

Enjoy live music, try playing real instruments, and even challenge yourself with some dance moves!
Led by flutist Yoko Yoshinaga, the WaiWai Artist Group will perform a delightful wind ensemble.

The program ranges from classical pieces to children’s favorites like the iconic Anpanman March — perfect for getting little ones up and dancing ♪
Don’t miss the dynamic performance by dancer Yusuke Hayama as well!

After the concert, kids will have the chance to touch the instruments and create their own sounds — a magical hands-on musical experience.

Tonton’s Play Area

At the kids’ favorite Tonton’s Play Area, children can play freely with educational toys and beautifully crafted wooden toys ♪
With its unique selection of toys, this play area is a hit with both children and parents alike.
Let your little ones play to their heart’s content and make happy summer memories!

The concert, instrument and dance experiences, and Tonton’s Play Area are all held inside the Community Hall.
The single 500 yen admission gives you access to everything — concert, instrument and dance experiences, and the play area!

This time, Sarukuma proudly produced the Night Market! Soak up the Japanese summer festival atmosphere with kid-friendly workshops, kids’ nail art, and traditional shateki target shooting ♪
You’ll also find lovely handmade fabric goods and accessories for sale.
And of course, plenty of mouthwatering street food: karaage, takoyaki, kebabs, sandwiches, grilled squid, ice cream and more!
