Today I’m taking you to a hidden gem in
Eda, Nagomi-machi, Tamana District, Kumamoto Prefecture,
“Niku no Saiki” — a beloved neighborhood butcher shop.

Here we are at “Niku no Saiki,” sitting right next to the popular roadside station “Michi-no-Eki Kikusui Roman-kan”＼(^o^)／

The parking lot in front of the shop is shared with the roadside station, so there’s plenty of space (^-^)

Step inside, and you’ll be greeted by a beautiful selection of fresh, mouth-watering meats (^-^)

And there’s a wonderful lineup of freshly fried Japanese deli items, too (^-^)

Croquette (Korokke): 90 yen
Chicken Katsu: 160 yen
Long Sausage: 150 yen
Ham Katsu: 160 yen
Menchi Katsu (Minced Cutlet): 120 yen

Right next to the shop, there’s a lovely wooden deck (^-^)

What I Tried at Niku no Saiki

Here’s what I picked up this time —
Croquette (Korokke): 90 yen

A perfectly round, plump croquette ~ (^-^)

One bite, and —
That coating is unbelievably crispy!!!

This is the kind of deep, savory flavor only a real butcher shop can deliver!

Inside, you’ll find fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth potato
with a comforting, perfectly balanced seasoning that’s just too good (^з^)-☆
