About Sairoji Park (Sairōji Kōen)
Hello, fellow travelers! I’m Aikero, a writer for SaruKuma.
Today I’m introducing
Sairoji Park (Sairōji Kōen), a hidden gem located in Zenitomo, Minami Ward, Kumamoto City.
It sits in a quiet pocket of countryside, surrounded on all sides by farm fields.
There are even cherry blossom trees — a lovely treat if you visit in spring.
A handwashing station is conveniently placed right beside the play equipment.
There’s also a covered rest area right next to the playground.
It’s so reassuring to be close enough to keep an eye on the kids while they play (●^o^●)
There’s a small waterway running through the park, and crossing the little bridge takes you over to the open grounds.
Doesn’t a charming bridge like this just spark a sense of adventure?
Just past the bridge, you’ll find the restrooms.
There are two Japanese-style (squat) toilets, but on my visit, one had a door that wouldn’t quite open and there was no toilet paper.
If you’re planning to visit, I’d recommend going beforehand or bringing your own tissues just in case (^_^;)
The park is neatly divided into a play area and an open ground, separated by that little waterway.
Several benches are tucked around the trees in the grounds area as well.
Once the leaves fill in, those benches should make for some wonderfully shady spots (^.^)
There’s another covered rest area at the very back of the open ground.
With plenty of benches scattered throughout and two separate covered rest areas, you’ll have no trouble finding a place to sit even on a busy day.
Why We Recommend Sairoji Park (Sairōji Kōen)
The play equipment is all new and beautifully maintained!
Everything is conveniently grouped together near the park entrance, so you can supervise your kids without having to dash from one corner to another.
The seats are made with tires, so they’re nice and gentle on little bottoms (^O^)/lol
It’s a bit hard to see in the photo, but the swings have had their height adjusted (^_^;)
Just be a little careful when using them.
I spotted some traces of imaginative play left on the open-air table and chairs (^○^)
Was it a tea party? Maybe a pretend cooking session?
It’s heartwarming to picture the kids who must have been playing here (^.^)
Why not come and unwind at Sairoji Park, surrounded by peaceful fields and rural charm? (^O^)/
Packing a bento for a picnic is highly recommended ♪
