End-of-Summer Yellow Fest: Event Report

Although it was meant to mark the end of summer, the August heat came roaring back under bright blue skies, and the entire venue was awash in a sea of yellow worn by guests and staff alike.
This special event was organized as a collaborative celebration leading up to the Mynavi Tour de Kyushu cycling race held every October!
The stage was packed with non-stop entertainment!
Here’s our recap of the End-of-Summer Yellow Fest, where visitors, vendors, and the entire venue came together as one big, sunny family.

Highlights from the Event

Despite the heat, the day kicked off with energetic kids’ dance performances and powerful Japanese taiko drumming!
The event’s dress code was “yellow,” and the dancers cleverly worked the bright color into their costumes and accessories.
Some groups showcased award-winning routines, with choreography and expressions ranging from playful to surprisingly mature depending on the genre.
During the picture-book reading and sing-along time, little ones happily joined in singing — a truly heartwarming moment.
For the End-of-Summer Yellow Fest, we tried something completely new — a fashion show!
Until it began, we honestly weren’t sure how many people would step up to participate.
At first the participants looked a little nervous, but as they walked down the red carpet, smiles bloomed across their faces.
Some kids even strutted like professional models and waved to the crowd like seasoned celebrities!
The Sarukuma Kids also turned out in full force.
One vendor, dressed in a vibrant aloha shirt, took to the runway hand-in-hand with his grandchild — what a sight!
Guests and vendors alike came together to make this fashion show a true highlight of the day.
It was our first time hosting one, but it turned out so charming and fun that we’re definitely planning to do it again!
Our radiant MC for the day was Rabuka-chan, whose smile lit up the whole stage.
Her boundless energy made sure no one felt the bittersweet sting of summer ending — thank you so much!
Held both in the morning and afternoon, Rika-sensei’s color-play workshop was a massive hit!
The banner the children created — bursting with their innocent creativity — will be proudly displayed at the Mynavi Tour de Kyushu!
Just looking at it gives you a burst of pure joy.
Some families had a blast painting their white shirts together as a fun parent-child activity.
Kids smeared paint on their hands and faces, giggling “I look like a zombie!” — and the laughter spread to everyone watching.
Over at the nursery school connected to Cosmos, Chisato-sensei led a baby & kids massage session.
The sight of babies beaming as they bonded with their parents filled the room with warmth and pure happiness!

The marketplace area featured a lineup of 25 incredible vendors!
The workshops were a hit with the fashion-forward girls!
From handmade accessories to kids’ makeup, nail art, and wooden toys, there were plenty of stalls catering specifically to children.
The lottery booth and traditional cork-gun shooting gallery drew huge crowds of excited children.
With every “pop!” of the cork gun, you’d hear a triumphant “I got it!” ringing through the air.
The food lineup was a foodie’s paradise — yakisoba (Japanese stir-fried noodles), fresh-baked bread, grilled meat skewers, curry, karaage (Japanese fried chicken), and a variety of sweets!
Many guests strolled around delightfully torn between options, asking themselves “What should I eat next?”
Under the strong sun, cold drinks and chilled desserts were especially popular!
Cosmos Cafe also went all-yellow just for the day!
The air-conditioned interior was packed with guests cooling off and enjoying refreshing kakigori (Japanese shaved ice).
Inside the cafe, we set up a special booth where guests could write encouraging messages for the Mynavi Tour de Kyushu cyclists.
The bicycle drawings and heartfelt messages of support are sure to give the racers a serious boost of energy!
Since this was a collaboration with the Mynavi Tour de Kyushu, anyone who arrived by bicycle received an exclusive original gift!
At the reception desk, we also handed out stickers and harisen paper fans, which we hope helped spread the word about the upcoming Mynavi Tour de Kyushu in October.

Closing Thoughts

What was supposed to be a gentle farewell to summer turned out to feel like high summer all over again — and that was the spirit of our End-of-Summer Yellow Fest!
We were a little nervous about trying out a yellow dress code and our very first fashion show, but seeing so many guests show up sporting splashes of yellow filled our hearts with joy.
The fashion show in particular brought everyone together, with audience participation creating a wonderful sense of unity.
What usually feels like a slightly melancholy goodbye to summer became one of the happiest, most upbeat memories we could have asked for!
