Hello there!
This is Rikotama, writer for Sarukuma!

Today I’m excited to introduce a hidden gem located in Minamiaso Village, Aso District, Kumamoto Prefecture:
Pension Konomi – Swiss Cuisine & Wine Inn

That’s right!
This time it’s not a restaurant review – it’s a charming pension (guesthouse) review! (≧▽≦)

You’ll find it tucked away in the pension village near Choyo Park Golf Course!

A cute signboard out front makes it easy to spot. ♪

The pink walls give the whole place a fairytale feel! ♡

Just looking at it lifts your spirits! ↑↑↑ (*^▽^*)

COVID-19 safety measures were thoroughly in place during my visit!

Hand sanitizer was available at the entrance and throughout the building!

This is the restaurant space right inside the entrance!

The antique furniture and interior design are absolutely enchanting~!
Ah~~~ what a lovely atmosphere! (*´▽`*)

In the winter, they light up the fireplace!
It must feel so cozy and warm~ (=^・^=)

You can spot Swiss touches everywhere in the room!

☆FONDUE!!!
A cheese fondue apron!!!
I want one! (=゚ω゚)ノ

And there’s even a cozy lounge area like this!

Building blocks, Othello, shogi, and tons of books, encyclopedias, and manga were all available!

The guest rooms are adorable too! ♡

Though it didn’t make the photo, our room had four beds set up!

A snail!!!

How adorable! It’s the room key! (≧▽≦)
First time in my life seeing a key like this!!!

Power outlets!
You can plug USB cables in directly!!

Recommended Menu

Now for the long-awaited dinner time!!!

First up: appetizers.

Switzerland means cheese, of course! Cheese tart!
Plus prosciutto, tomato with cheese, and escargot!!!

Everything was delicious, but my personal favorite was the wonderfully aromatic escargot. ☆

And here’s the iconic Swiss dish!!
CHEESE FONDUE!!!

The cheese flavor is rich yet not heavy at all – you can keep dipping bread and devouring it forever! (*^▽^*)

This is the milk soup said to be the very drink Heidi of the Alps enjoyed! ♡

And here comes the main course!

The chicken was incredibly tender – it just fell apart on the fork! (≧▽≦)
Absolutely amazing!!!

Even the salad dressing had that special homemade touch you can really taste!

And here’s the dessert plate!

★Vanilla ice cream with blueberry sauce ★Custard-flavored cheesecake ★Fresh fruit

Followed by coffee to finish things off.

Between the bread for the cheese fondue and everything else, I returned to my room completely stuffed and satisfied! (=゚ω゚)ノ

And the next morning!

Freshly baked bread!
A wonderfully healthy breakfast loaded with fresh vegetables! ♪

※And yes – the dressing was unbelievably good!!

Various credit cards and PayPay are accepted for payment!

Our family showed up on a complete whim, but it turns out Pension Konomi consistently gets 5-star ☆☆☆☆☆ reviews all over the internet!!

The atmosphere! The food!! And above all, the warm hospitality of the owner couple!!!

Those 5-star reviews make complete sense! (・ω・)ノ
I’m definitely planning to come back again!
