This is Binako, your SaruKuma writer, still recovering from hearing my son use the slang word “gachi de” (“for real”) for the first time.

Today I’m taking you to a brand-new spot in Toshima-Nishi, Higashi Ward, Kumamoto City:
“Karaage Home Run” — a specialty Japanese fried chicken (karaage) shop you don’t want to miss.

This karaage shop celebrated its grand opening on November 5th.

It’s located right near “Maekawa Coffee Toshima Branch,” another local favorite SaruKuma has previously featured.

The parking lot is huge, so you don’t need to worry about finding a spot.
Even though the shop was bustling with customers when I visited, I was able to park with no trouble at all!

Inside the shop, you’ll be greeted by a bold illustration of a baseball boy bursting into tears — apparently from how delicious the food is!

Even better, both the egg soup and barley tea are completely free.

How amazing is that?
Karaage paired with egg soup is an unbeatable combo.

There’s even a clever scoreboard showing the running tally between the salt-flavored and soy-sauce-flavored karaage. Which one is winning? You’ll have to visit to find out! (laughs)
