📌 What You’ll Learn in This Article
A Sarukuma writer visits and reports on “Kishapoppo Natural Hot Spring” in Nonoshima, Koshi City. Pricing starts from around 1,000 yen. We’ve covered family-friendly highlights, access info, and opening hours.

Hello, travelers!
This is Gussan, writer for Sarukuma!

The other day I went to a family bath (kazoku-yu) with friends and their family,
so let me share my experience with you ☆

The location is in Nonoshima, Koshi City,
and it’s called [Kishapoppo Natural Hot Spring].

It’s tucked away just past Hananoya, the set-meal restaurant in Nonoshima, Koshi City that we featured before.
This is a kid-friendly family bath \(^o^)/

[Hananoya] Clean and Family-Friendly! A Great Spot for Set Meals ♪ [Koshi City, Nonoshima]

There’s a big sign right by the road!
Drive a little further and you’ll see another large sign.
The signs are so eye-catching that finding the place is a breeze! (laughs)
Besides the main parking lot,
there’s also a spacious parking area in the back!
First, head to the reception desk to buy your ticket.
Since the place is called “Kishapoppo” (a Japanese onomatopoeia for a steam train),
all the bath rooms are named after train stations (*^^*)
Private family baths often feel pricey, but
Kishapoppo offers wonderfully reasonable rates!
Up to 3 people: 1,000 yen
Up to 5 people: 1,500 yen
6 or more people: 2,000 yenDiscounted multi-use ticket booklets are also available ☆

What Makes It Special

Many family baths come with long wait times,
but Kishapoppo, designed with little children in mind,
makes the experience easy for everyone.
The covered rest area features
a slide and
tricycles for kids to play with!
The kids zoomed around so fast on the tricycles
that my photos all came out blurry…
There’s also a vending machine next to the rest area,
where you can grab juice or coffee while you wait.
And inside the bath area, you’ll find toys provided for the little ones, including
kids’ float rings,
watering cans, and washbasins!
Kids will be over the moon \(^o^)/
There’s a lounge area as well, but right now,
this is “Momiji Station” (Maple Station).
The water inlet area gets very hot,
so a red line is drawn beside it as a warning.

I tried the hotter side too,
and for an adult, it didn’t actually feel that hot.
The water on the front side was just slightly warmer than body temperature,
so you can soak comfortably for a long time, even in summer.
This is the changing room.
It comes equipped with clothes baskets, a fan, mirror, and hairdryer.
At Kishapoppo, the changing room and bath are connected,
so even from the changing area, you can keep an eye on your kids splashing in the bath (*^^*)
That said, it might get a bit chilly in winter,
so it’s probably more comfortable in the warmer months.
This is the other room,
“Suzuran Station” (Lily of the Valley Station).
The layout is almost identical to Momiji Station.
The floor tiles in Momiji Station look
newer and more pristine.
Both vanity areas are kept clean,
so you can use them with peace of mind (^o^)
They also have a system that calls you before your time is up — super convenient!

One important tip:
shampoo and body soap are NOT provided,
so don’t forget to bring your own!

Kishapoppo Natural Hot Spring is a family bath where you can enjoy yourself almost like splashing in a pool ☆
Definitely worth a visit during your trip to Kumamoto \(^o^)/
