Introducing Kiyama Castle Ruins Park

Hello there!
This is Ayu-mama, a writer for “Sarukuma.”

Today I’m excited to introduce a wonderful spot located in Terasako, Mashiki Town, Kamimashiki District:
【Kiyama Castle Ruins Park】

Cherry blossoms! Sakura everywhere! I had heard for years that this was one of the best hanami (cherry blossom viewing) spots around

This year, I finally had the perfect timing to visit during cherry blossom season, so let me share it with you!
The park is located right next to the 【Mashiki Town General Sports Park】, which is also home to the famous One Piece “Sanji” statue we featured previously on Sarukuma.

Here’s the parking area.
There aren’t any painted parking lines, so please park considerately and share the space with other visitors.

Restrooms are available on site.

There’s also a hand-washing station — handy for families with kids.

Once upon a time, a magnificent castle stood here!
What kind of castle was it? What kind of feudal lord lived here? It’s so much fun to let your imagination wander through history!! ^_^
Personally, I love studying the terrain and imagining how enemies might have tried to attack — yes, I’m a bit of a castle geek!

Why You’ll Love Kiyama Castle Ruins Park

Now for the moment you’ve been waiting for — photos of the cherry blossoms in full bloom!

There’s a wide open square.

Wherever you look, in every direction — cherry trees as far as the eye can see!

Simply breathtaking!!!

You can even spot the neighboring 【Mashiki Town General Sports Park】 below!

As you walk up the slope (which becomes a beautiful tunnel of cherry blossoms!),

you’ll find another open square.

Benches are scattered around the area.

There’s even a small stage-like structure.

This area, too, is completely surrounded by cherry trees in full bloom.

My son had a wonderful time picking up fallen petals to play with â™Ș

Behind the restrooms, there’s a staircase leading down

And more cherry trees await down here!
With benches available, this is a true ‘hidden gem’!

Since the park is so spacious, you can enjoy hanami while keeping a comfortable distance from the crowds.

The blossoms may be falling now, but be sure to add this to your bucket list for next year’s cherry blossom season!
