Welcome to SALUTE
Hello travelers! This is Mido 🌳, a writer for Sarukuma.
Today I’m excited to introduce you to SALUTE, a charming little bakery tucked away in Tsukure, Kikuyo Town, Kikuchi District — just a short stroll from Sanrigi Station along the old Route 57.
【SALUTE】 is a takeaway bakery with a tagline that always caught my eye whenever I drove past: “Coffee and Bread Shop 🍞”. After countless curious glances, I finally stopped in!

A cute signboard greets you out front. Let’s step inside!

Freshly baked breads line the counter, ready to be discovered.
Here’s a lovely surprise: the owner is a former nurse! Wanting to support people’s health through good food, she opened this additive-free bakery. The eggs come from Ogata Egg Farm’s premium “Kaguyahime Tamago” — a local favorite.
Every loaf is filled with the owner’s heartfelt commitment to safe, wholesome ingredients ✨

The lineup changes daily, so every visit brings a new surprise!

Shokupan (Japanese milk bread): 400 yen
Rye Salt Bread: 90 yen

Anpan (sweet red bean bun): 150 yen
Chiffon Cake (Plain): 200 yen

Sausage Bread: 160 yen
Crème d’Amande: 200 yen

Chiffon Cake: 250 yen
Since I arrived in the early afternoon, a few items had already sold out — a sign of how popular this little place is.
And here’s the drink menu! There’s even soft-serve ice cream — perfect as the weather warms up 🍦

With a name like “Coffee and Bread Shop,” how could I resist trying the coffee? With the warmer days arriving, I went with the iced coffee.
Freshly ground beans brewed via hand drip! The aroma alone is incredible. Watching your coffee carefully prepared right in front of you is pure bliss.
Iced Coffee: 400 yen
It was so smooth and delicious 😊 I had planned to savor it slowly at home with the bread, but I gulped it down in the car before I knew it!
Just a little over 1 km from SALUTE, you’ll find Kikuyo Sugi Namiki Park Sansan — a beautiful park lined with cedar trees. With the warmer weather, packing some SALUTE bread for a picnic there sounds absolutely perfect 🤩

Today’s haul: Coffee Chiffon Cake, the #1 bestseller Salt Bread, the quietly popular Anpan, and Shokupan!

Time to dig into the chiffon cake! Just holding it, you can feel how light and fluffy it is…

When you tear it apart, look at that texture. One bite and…
Incredibly fluffy! I want another one already!
I hope you can feel that fluffiness through the screen!

My picky son took a bite of the salt bread and immediately broke into a smile: “So good!” It was gone in seconds.
My daughter went straight for the anpan.
Inside, the smooth red bean paste (koshian) reaches all the way to the edges. Pure happiness!

I lightly toasted the shokupan and tried it plain first.
Light, airy, and perfectly fluffy-crispy!
Absolutely delicious!
The next morning, I topped the leftover shokupan with tuna mayo and cheese for breakfast 😊
Some breads were already sold out during my visit, and the lineup changes daily — so I’m definitely planning a return trip soon! You can check the day’s bread selection on their Instagram.
The shop is open until 6:00 PM, but breads and chiffon cakes are sold while supplies last. If you have your heart set on a specific item, I highly recommend going early!
Definitely worth a visit — go check it out! ♪
