Today I’m introducing a wonderful family spot located in Ueki-machi, Kita Ward, Kumamoto City:
Kagayakikan Tsudoi no Hiroba (The Gathering Plaza at Kagayakikan)

Kagayakikan is a community facility located right next to Ueki Central Park, which we previously featured (^-^).
Inside Kagayakikan, you’ll find the “Tsudoi no Hiroba” — a free indoor play space for young children!

There’s a parking lot, too — perfect for visitors driving in!

As is customary in Japan, you’ll remove your shoes here before entering.

As soon as you step inside Kagayakikan, the Tsudoi no Hiroba is right there on your left.
Located near the entrance with a clear view inside, it feels welcoming and easy to walk into (*^.^*).

Just sign in with your name before using the space!

How to Use Tsudoi no Hiroba

<Opening Hours>
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
*Closed between 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM
for a midday break.

The best part? No reservation needed! Just drop in whenever it suits your child’s mood — a huge bonus for traveling families.

The space is open to children aged 0 to 6 (preschool age).

Eating isn’t allowed inside the play area, but drinks for hydration are welcome.

Phone consultations are also available (*^.^*).
If chatting in person feels intimidating, calling can make it easier to ask for parenting advice.
There’s a multi-purpose restroom roughly in the middle of Kagayakikan — very family-friendly (^^)v.

It also features a diaper-changing table and a child-sized toilet — a real lifesaver for parents on the go (^^).

There’s a nursing room available, too (^^).

A simple nursing space is also set up inside Tsudoi no Hiroba itself, so you can choose whichever is more convenient.

Two vending machines are on-site for drinks.

Why We Recommend Kagayakikan Tsudoi no Hiroba

My child’s first reaction was a delighted “Wow!” (*^^*).

So many toys lined up — kids will be spoiled for choice!

Plenty of beautiful wooden toys, too (^-^)v.

This particular set was a clear favorite — every child seemed completely absorbed in it (*^.^*).

There are also baby dolls to care for — my little one happily “fed” hers for what felt like forever (^-^).

Lots of doll outfits are available too, so kids can enjoy dressing up their dolls (^^).

There’s so much to explore, kids keep moving from one game to the next (^o^)/.

There’s even a dedicated baby zone for the youngest little ones!

A baby crib is provided as well.

It’s also a lovely place to meet other children and parents — a great chance to interact with local families.

Several friendly staff members are on hand at Tsudoi no Hiroba, and they’ll happily play alongside the children (*^^*).

The staff have a warm, welcoming presence and create a comfortable, easy atmosphere for both kids and parents.

When I had to step away to use the restroom, the staff kindly watched over my child — such a relief (^^).

Toys are regularly disinfected after use.

Here’s another batch of toys being sterilized, and they also use a Pikasshu spray disinfectant for extra hygiene (*^.^*).
