Introducing SHIVA Indian Restaurant Motozo
Hello travelers, this is Aikero, a writer for Sarukuma!
Today I’m taking you to Yahata in Minami Ward, Kumamoto City, to a wonderful spot called
SHIVA Indian Restaurant Motozo.
Sarukuma previously featured the SHIVA Indian Restaurant Kengun branch in another article by Gussan! (^O^)/
Located right along National Route 3, this restaurant is easy to spot and many locals will recognize it instantly (^.^)
It’s the perfect place when you’re craving authentic curry served with freshly baked naan! ♪
You’ll find it just past Guru Guru Souko Kumamoto Main Store, heading toward Uto.
Convenient parking is available right in front of the shop.
Here’s a peek inside the restaurant.
There’s plenty of space, so strollers can roll right in — perfect for families! ♪
There’s a traditional Japanese tatami seating area next to the kitchen.
The restroom is located just behind the kitchen and tatami area (^^)/
Since I dropped by in the evening, here’s the dinner set menu.
For +150 yen you can upgrade to garlic naan, or +250 yen for cheese naan — totally worth it!
Of course, you can also order curry on its own.
So many options to choose from! (^○^)
Here’s the naan and rice menu.
Which type of naan is your favorite? Mine has to be cheese naan! (^.^)
They even serve pasta and pizza!
It has that signature Indian curry restaurant vibe.
Tandoori, tikka (Indian-style skewers), and snacks
These sides are seriously delicious too! (^○^)
Salad, soup, dessert, and Indian-style snack appetizers
Did you spot the naan roll with chai on the menu?
It’s like the naan is calling out, “Wrap me up!” haha
There’s a self-serve corner with free soup and coffee ♪
This is one of those classic touches you find at Indian curry restaurants in Japan! (●^o^●)
SHIVA Indian Restaurant Motozo Recommended Menu

I went with Set A at 1,080 yen and chose chicken curry!
You’ve got to see this for yourself!
Look at that giant naan — it’s almost bigger than your face! ♪
I really wanted cheese naan, but had to skip it since I was sharing with my daughter (T_T)
That signature orange dressing on the salad is absolutely delicious!
And of course I enjoyed the soup too!
The spicy aroma is just wonderful (●^o^●)
I’m the type who carefully balances curry and naan so I don’t run out of either at the end!
Even sharing with my daughter, I was completely stuffed by the end! Pro tip: naan refills are free, so you’ll never go hungry here.
My daughter asked for “that white Calpis-like drink” — a sweet yogurt-based lassi — so we ordered it.
It’s the kind of drink that just calls your name when you’re eating Indian food! (^_^;)
The staff are warm and welcoming, and you’ll leave with a full belly and a smile. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area! (^O^)/
