Iriji Minami Park in Uto City – A Quiet Neighborhood Park You Can Reach by the Charming “Yukinaga-shan” Community Bus
2024.04.29

A Sarukuma writer’s first-hand visit report on “Iriji Minami Park” in Iriji-machi, Uto City. We’ve summarized family-friendly highlights, access, and opening hours.
About Iriji Minami Park
Hello travelers! This is Suno, a writer for Sarukuma.
Today I’d like to introduce a lovely little park tucked away in Iriji-machi, Uto City:
Iriji Minami Park.
Set in the middle of a peaceful residential neighborhood, the park has a calm, relaxing atmosphere.
The street out front even has a wide, well-maintained sidewalk — great for strollers.
The huge open lawn is perfect for running around. On the day we visited, a parent and child were enjoying a game of catch.
My daughter spent ages happily spinning herself silly on this rotating playground ride!
There are four swings to choose from.
The sandbox next door was overgrown with grass and unfortunately not usable on our visit.
Swings at many other parks are set quite high, so my little one usually can’t climb up alone — but the swings here are lower, so look at that!
That’s a real plus for tiny travelers.
She was thrilled to be able to hop on all by herself!
We took a snack break on this bench with some bread.
One thing to note: there are no hand-washing stations, drinking fountains, or restrooms on site, so come prepared.
Then it was off to the slide.
…Whoa! Hold on a second!
Instead of normal stairs, this slide is fused with a jungle gym, which can be a tricky climb for a 2-year-old.
A posted notice mentions that children ages 3 to 6 should be accompanied by a guardian.
By boosting her up from the bottom of the slide
and giving her a hand on the jungle gym, we kept the slide fun going round after round!
Why Iriji Minami Park Is Worth a Visit
Right in front of the park entrance, you’ll find this charming bus stop.
This is the stop for the “Yukinaga-shan Go” — a friendly community bus that loops around central Uto City!
The park itself doesn’t have a parking lot, but if your kids love trains and buses, you can make it a fun mini-adventure: take the train to JR Uto Station, then hop on the community bus and enjoy a leisurely ride through Uto’s local streetscape.
Seasonal flowers bloom across a wide area, and the flower beds are beautifully maintained year-round.
Why not jump on the “Yukinaga-shan Go” bus and come explore Iriji-machi for yourself?
