Introducing Watarika Park

Today I’m excited to introduce
a wonderful spot located in Watarika, Chuo Ward, Kumamoto City:
Watarika Park (渡鹿公園)!

You’ll find it along Sangyo Road, right across from Joyfull Kumamoto Watarika (a popular family restaurant chain)!

There’s a parking lot with about 10 spaces — no need to worry about where to park!
Open hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Here’s the one covered bench area — perfect for a shaded break!
You’ll also find several regular benches scattered throughout the park.

Drinking fountains are conveniently located in two places — one near the playground and one near the field! (*^-^*)

Here’s the restroom!

And there’s even a diaper-changing station inside — great news for parents traveling with little ones!

There’s a vending machine on-site too — handy for grabbing a cold drink on a hot Kumamoto afternoon!

Right next to the playground area, there’s an enormous open field — perfect for running around or kicking a ball! (=ﾟωﾟ)ﾉ

What Makes Watarika Park Special

A spacious sandbox!

On the day of my visit, a little boy around 3 years old was happily playing in the sandbox with his mom (*’ω’*)

And then there’s THIS — a super-loooong monkey bar set! (≧▽≦)

I wonder if even kids can make it all the way to the end!?
As a fortysomething, I had to admit defeat ( ;∀;)

Plus, it twists and turns in the most fun way possible!!! (≧▽≦)

HI Hirose (a popular discount store) and Book Off (Japan’s famous used-book chain) are also nearby — perfect for a little shopping detour after the park! 😋
