Today I’m introducing
a charming spot in Ueki-machi, Kita Ward, Kumamoto City
— “Kitchen Akari”!

This adorable little spot near the expressway is Kitchen Akari! \(^o^)/

I heard they had a takeout menu, so I had to come check it out!

First, let me give you a peek inside the shop! (^-^)v

Step inside Kitchen Akari and the first thing that greets you is a beautiful display of sweets! (^o^)

A wonderful selection of baked goods, too!

Table seating is tucked toward the back.

There are also cozy sofa seats with a view of the outdoors.

Families will love the traditional tatami area, partitioned into semi-private spaces — perfect for parents with little ones! (^-^)

They even have child-sized chairs available!

Plenty of picture books are stocked here too, so kids will stay happily entertained!

There’s even a grassy lawn area out back! (^^)

Recommended Menu at Kitchen Akari

Makunouchi Bento — ¥1,100
That’s what I treated myself to! \(^o^)/

Orders are taken in advance by phone, which makes pickup quick and smooth — highly recommended!

Lid coming off… here we go!

Behold — Kitchen Akari’s Makunouchi Bento! (^з^)-☆
Gorgeous! Gorgeous! Absolutely gorgeous!

Western-style flair! And the variety! I was honestly amazed!

The bento even comes with dessert — what a treat!

And the meat lineup is seriously impressive!

Let me run through everything one by one…
First up, hamburger steak!
Then karaage (Japanese fried chicken), menchi-katsu (minced meat cutlet), teriyaki chicken, ebi-chili (shrimp in chili sauce), tamagoyaki (rolled omelette), sautéed fish… and more!

And there’s even more meaty goodness hiding behind the tamagoyaki! (^^)

A proper, hearty Western-style hamburger steak! (^o^)
Such an incredible variety!

And the other compartment is just as luxurious! \(^o^)/

Chawanmushi (steamed savory egg custard), quiche, potato salad, nanban-zuke (fried white fish in sweet vinegar marinade), Chinese-style salad, and more!
Everything was delicious, but the Chinese-style salad with bean sprouts and wood ear mushrooms was my personal favorite!

Including chawanmushi in a bento is such a luxurious touch! (^-^)v

I always pictured makunouchi bento as a traditional Japanese affair,
but to discover one this stylish and lavish was such a delightful surprise! (^o^)

Imagine enjoying a bento like this beneath the cherry blossoms — pure bliss for both heart and stomach! (⌒0⌒)/~~
