This is Kurumikko, your Sarukuma travel writer!

Today I’m introducing you to
Yamamuro, Kita Ward, Kumamoto City, home to
“Yakiniku Pine Hill” (ぱいんひる).

Located along the Hida Bypass, near Kinou Hospital,
you’ll easily spot it thanks to the bold “焼肉” (Yakiniku) sign,
which is impossible to miss even while driving!

Step inside and you’re greeted by warm, traditional Japanese semi-private booths (´▽｀*)

Beyond the tatami seating, there are also regular table seats and horigotatsu-style sunken seats.
The slightly retro vibe makes you feel instantly relaxed the moment you sit down (´▽｀*)

Wait — why does the second photo suddenly look like dusk compared to the first? Well, there’s a little story behind that (゜_゜)

I visited on a weekend evening and figured I’d snap the exterior photo on my way out — no rush, right?

But by the time my family was leaving, the parking lot was so packed that other customers were waiting for spots to open up.
(The parking lot is actually quite spacious!)

I jumped into the car and tried to take a photo through the window — but every shot came out blurry (゜゜)💦
So I came back another day to get a proper picture 🤩

That’s how popular Pine Hill really is.

Ventilation here is taken seriously!

The smokeless roasters draw the BBQ smoke — and the indoor air along with it — directly outside.
The entire dining area’s air is exchanged in just about three and a half minutes!

That means diners can enjoy their meal with extra peace of mind.

They also offer takeout bento boxes:
Harami (Skirt Steak) Yakiniku Bowl — 950 yen
Bibimbap — 800 yen
Cheese Chijimi (Korean Pancake) — 900 yen
and more — takeout orders are accepted anytime during business hours.

It’s wonderful to be able to enjoy authentic yakiniku-quality bento at home (*‘∀‘)

We had dinner inside the restaurant!
Here’s the menu 🥩
Wagyu Loin (1,100 yen)
Wagyu Karubi/Short Rib (1,100 yen) and other à la carte beef cuts,
plus large-platter yakiniku assortments.

There are also family-style chef’s choice sets,
and a kids’ menu too!
Kids’ Kuppa (Korean Soup Rice), Udon, or Curry — 380 yen each

You’ll also find a wide variety of sides like kimchi, salads, bibimbap, naengmyeon (cold noodle soup), and jjigae stew!

This time, we ordered the Variety Yakiniku Platter (small), a kimchi assortment, and a few à la carte items (*‘∀‘)

The Variety Platter included:
Wagyu loin, wagyu karubi, nakaochi karubi (boneless short rib), bone-in karubi, sausage, butatoro (pork jowl), and pork karubi!

True to its name, the variety was incredible — and everything looked mouth-watering even before hitting the grill 🌟

Once the meat hits the hot grill, the sizzling sound only adds to the appetite (´▽｀*)
The beef was so high-quality and tender that even the kids ate more than usual!

The kimchi assortment (napa cabbage, cucumber, daikon radish) was perfectly fermented and full of flavor (*’▽’*)

An absolute must-have alongside grilled meat and rice!

Every single dish was delicious (*´▽｀*)
We couldn’t stop reaching for our chopsticks 🥢

Even toward the end of the meal,
while the savory aroma of grilled meat lingered, the smokeless roaster system kept the air fresh —
and best of all, our clothes didn’t smell of smoke at all! Amazing!

At checkout, our child even received a free toy!
The excitement of choosing from a whole selection of toys was off the charts (*‘∀‘)

Delicious yakiniku AND a free toy — what’s not to love? 😀

With its homey atmosphere and reasonably priced, top-quality grilled meat, Pine Hill is a fantastic choice for families and groups of friends ♪
