Introducing PANYA Ashiya
Hello there!
It’s Binako, a writer for Sarukuma, and yes, I really do need to buy a new laundry rack soon!
Today I’m introducing a wonderful spot located in
Suizenji, Chuo Ward, Kumamoto City:
“PANYA Ashiya”.

This shokupan (Japanese milk bread) bakery just opened today, and there was already a long line forming before the doors even opened!
Plus, signing up for their official LINE account earns you points and other perks!

The parking lot is conveniently located right next to the shop. There’s a clear sign so you won’t miss it!
Nearby, you’ll also find the cake shop “Nyukashiya,” the cozy izakaya “Suizenji JAZZ Sakaba Kappa,” and “Masters Cafe” β all worth checking out together! βͺ

What sets Ashiya’s shokupan apart is their commitment to:
[Completely Additive-Free, Safe and Wholesome]
Since they don’t use eggs, honey, or margarine, the bread is safe even for babies! βͺ

The menu boards even feature charming wood-burned designs!
You can choose between two varieties: “Premium” (810 yen) and “Select” (702 yen).

On opening day, only the “Premium” was available, but the “Select” goes on sale starting the 23rd β something to look forward to! βͺ

They also sell jam (648 yen) β the perfect partner for your fresh-baked shokupan!

I quickly tried the “Premium” loaf, paired with “Honey Butter” jam.
How could anyone resist a name like that?

The bread comes with simple, mouthwatering recipe ideas β perfect for cooking together with kids!

There are even tips for the best way to enjoy the bread day by day, so you can savor every slice in its prime.

The golden rule? Try it fresh and untoasted first.
It’s so unbelievably soft that even slicing it was a joyful struggle!

With such simple ingredients, the natural sweetness of the wheat truly shines.
The texture is fluffy and chewy, melting smoothly with each bite.
Its gentle, not-too-sweet flavor means the flavor possibilities are endless.

Next, I toasted a slice until perfectly crispy.

Then, generously slathered it with that irresistible honey butter.

Pure indulgence with a delicious hint of guilty pleasure β this is what happiness tastes like.
The rich sweetness of the honey blooms across your palate while the buttery aroma drifts up through your nose.
Such a sinfully delightful little ritual!
It’s a combination kids absolutely love, too!

This shokupan celebrates simple, honest flavors that pair beautifully with anything you put on top!
Since even small children can enjoy it safely, it’s a fantastic choice for parents introducing solids to their little ones.
Be sure to stop by and treat yourself!
