Welcome to Noasobi Cafe

Hello, travelers!
The sudden cold snap has me struggling to figure out what to wear—
This is Binako, your Sarukuma writer!

Today I’m excited to introduce you to a charming new spot in Manda, Arao City, Kumamoto Prefecture:
“Noasobi Cafe”.

This lovely cafe just opened its doors on November 30th.

It’s run by a wonderful mother-and-daughter duo, and the atmosphere is wonderfully homey and welcoming.
Noasobi Cafe also operates a separate business called “Noasobi Lodge”—be sure to check out their website for more info!

The cafe is just a 1-minute walk from Arao Station—super convenient for tourists!

Nearby, you’ll also find “Nagasakiya” and “Cotton,” both featured by other Sarukuma writers.

Don’t miss those reviews too!

You’re welcome to use the Arao Station parking lot when visiting the cafe.
And here’s the best part—it’s free for the first 2 hours! Talk about generous. You can enjoy a leisurely lunch without any parking worries.

Step inside Noasobi Cafe and you’re greeted by a charming fireplace that warms you just by looking at it.

I especially loved the old-fashioned kettle sitting on top—such a cozy, nostalgic touch.

Seating includes two large tables and…

…three outdoor-style tables that give it a relaxed, camping-vibe feel.

The atmosphere is so comfortable that solo travelers will feel right at home—perfect for popping in for a casual lunch on your own.

Even better—the cafe has free Wi-Fi!
It’s a great spot to get some remote work done during off-peak cafe hours.

Bonus tip: the cafe can be reserved as a private venue for groups of 10 or more!
It’s perfect for celebrations, group gatherings, or even small events.

Must-Try Menu Items at Noasobi Cafe

The menu is regularly updated with new seasonal items, so be sure to follow Noasobi Cafe on Instagram to stay in the loop!

Aside from the curry doria, everything is available for takeout—perfect for grabbing a delicious bite to enjoy on the go or back at your accommodation.

This time, I went with the Cheese & Beef Stuffed Sandwich (600 yen).
(Full disclosure: I agonized over choosing between this and the Fluffy Thick Egg Sandwich, also 600 yen!)

The aroma hit me the moment it arrived at the table.
The generous layer of cheese melted on top looked absolutely indulgent.

The hard-crusted bread offered that signature crispy, crunchy bite.
Inside, it was wonderfully chewy, with flavor bursting out with every mouthful.

The filling? Sweetly seasoned beef and tender, melty onions—paired with rich, mellow cheese. My whole body wanted to shout “This is delicious!”

The set option (+400 yen) includes a hearty, vegetable-loaded soup that warms you from the inside out.
I savored every drop and lingered in pure bliss afterward.

Make sure to add this charming Kumamoto cafe to your travel itinerary!
