2022.05.16

Our Sarukuma writer visited “Fermera,” a popular food truck that travels around Kumamoto Prefecture. Prices start from 450 yen. We’ve also summarized family-friendly tips, access information, and operating hours.
Introducing Fermera
Hello travelers! This is Gachako, a writer for Sarukuma.
Today I’m excited to introduce
a delightful food truck called
[Fermera].
It’s an incredibly popular mobile eatery you won’t want to miss!

The logo features a lovely moon motif. Perhaps it comes from the owner’s name?
This is a food truck run by a mom with a young child.
Balancing childcare and running a food truck โ truly admirable!

The cheerful yellow vehicle is absolutely adorable โ a happy color that brightens any day.
The truck operates mainly around Arao City in Kumamoto Prefecture.
The interior has a soothing botanical atmosphere โ so calming!
I could honestly live in here (just kidding!)

The menu changes daily.
Drinks are sweetened with house-made amazake (a traditional Japanese fermented rice drink), so you can enjoy them guilt-free โ and even feel energized by amazake’s natural goodness!
I was amazed that such a wonderful drink existed!
The yogurt used is made from organic soy milk, making the menu vegan-friendly too.
Drinks like the cafe mocha are caffeine-free. Every item on the menu radiates warmth and care.
Fermera’s Recommended Menu Items

This time I tried the Seasonal Craft Cola (450 yen) and Raisin Bread (250 yen).
I was torn between this and the amazake smoothie, but when I saw on Instagram that they had just made a fresh batch of craft cola, I couldn’t resist! It’s infused with pesticide-free citrus fruits and a blend of aromatic spices.

The stylish logo really catches your eye.
What’s fascinating about craft cola is that the flavor varies depending on the maker’s unique blend.

One sip releases a wonderful spice aroma, followed by a refreshing burst of citrus.
It was a hot day, and this cola was perfectly crisp and refreshing!
I could easily drink it by the gallon.

Now for the raisin bread.
It’s made with organic flour, and amazingly, the yeast is natural amazake yeast!
I was surprised that amazake could make bread rise too.
You can really feel the owner’s deep love for amazake here as well.
Blended with whole wheat flour, it had a wonderfully chewy, springy texture with a gentle natural sweetness โ truly delicious bread.
I also wanted to try their famous rosemary focaccia, but it was sold out โ next time I’ll definitely reserve one in advance!
