Hello, fellow travelers!
I’m Binako, a SaruKuma writer who’s currently obsessed with the ginger tea I picked up at Kaldi β it’s become my nightly ritual!
Today I’m excited to introduce you to Kusunoki, Kita-ku, Kumamoto City, where you’ll find “Kimtako Kusunoki Branch” β a hidden gem serving up some of the most addictive takoyaki (Japanese octopus balls) in town.

Just look for the bright yellow shop β you can’t miss it! ^^

A friend tipped me off about this place, and I rushed over as soon as I could! I arrived right when they opened, so there was a short wait β but honestly, that anticipation just made the experience even more exciting ( *Β΄θΈο½)

And oh wow β watching the takoyaki sizzle and brown on the grill is half the fun!
The aroma drifting through the air while they cook is absolutely irresistible.
Oh my goodness, this smells AMAZING!!
The fragrance alone is delicious!!

This time, I went with
Kan Tako β 500 yen

When I mentioned I was also curious about the Kimtako,
the owner kindly threw in two Kimtako pieces for free! βͺ
What an incredibly generous owner… (Β΄;Ο;ο½)

I dove right into the Kimtako I’d been so curious about βͺ
Wait β what is this??
SO GOOD!!
The savory umami bursts out from the inside the moment you bite in, and the flavors literally party in your mouth! The kimchi adds the perfect spicy kick that takes the whole thing to another level.

Next up, I tried the Kan Tako!
It’s loaded with green onions and comes with a soy-based sauce drizzled on top ( *Β΄θΈο½)
The mild sharpness and crunch of the green onions bring out incredible umami flavor!
And just like before β that juicy, savory burst on the first bite is absolutely incredible!!
The octopus pieces are also generously big, making every bite pure happiness ( *Β΄θΈο½)
If you’re visiting Kumamoto, definitely add this place to your list β you won’t regret it!
