Introducing ENDELEA COFFEE Kyomachi

Hello, travelers! This is Maru, a writer for Sarukuma. Spring in Kumamoto is absolutely magical — tulips, sweet peas, and countless other charming flowers are bursting into bloom. The Kumamoto Flower Expo kicks off on March 19 (Saturday), and I can hardly wait! 🌷

Today I’m taking you to ENDELEA COFFEE, a stylish specialty coffee shop tucked away in Kyomachi, Chuo Ward, Kumamoto City — a wonderful little hideaway for any traveler exploring central Kumamoto.

Wait — does that logo look familiar?
It should! This is the second location of the popular ENDELEA COFFEE, whose original shop in Yatsushiro we’ve previously featured on Sarukuma.

The second floor often hosts pop-up events, and on this visit I came to check out a friend’s solo art exhibition. \(^o^)/

The two-story café sits on a gentle slope and looks just like a regular Japanese house, so it’s easy to walk right past it. Look for the distinctive logo next to the door — that’s your signpost!

There’s a small parking lot beside the shop with space for several cars — convenient if you’re grabbing something to-go!

Step through the door, and you’re transported to a quietly extraordinary world.
A welcoming counter greets you right inside the entrance on the first floor, with a cozy little eat-in space alongside. The lighting is dimmed to a soft, calming glow — perfect for slowing down. (^ ^)

Even the shadows are art!
I was admiring the elegant circular pendant lights when I noticed how their shadows danced across the walls like a living artwork. Combined with the paintings from the exhibition, the effect was simply stunning. ✨

Whole coffee beans are also available for purchase — a wonderful souvenir to take home from your Kumamoto trip.

And the soundtrack? Vinyl records! 🎶
It had been ages since I’d heard one. There’s something so charming about that hush right before the needle drops. Sipping coffee with vinyl crackling in the background is the kind of luxury you simply have to experience. ✨

The second floor: bright, breezy, and wide-open!
While the first floor is intimate and dimly lit, the upstairs space couldn’t feel more different — spacious, sunlit, and offering sweeping views. A wall of windows looks out over the city, making it the perfect spot to simply gaze and unwind.

There’s plenty of seating along the walls upstairs too, so you can settle in and take your time.

Here’s the menu. You can enjoy specialty coffee at very reasonable prices, with a generous lineup of latte options too! Homemade sweets are also available.

This time I ordered a drip coffee (450 yen) and a two-layer cheesecake with matcha and plain layers (500 yen).
Both the elegant coffee cup and the artful presentation of the cake are simply gorgeous. 😍

I made an unusual request — “Could you brew it almost like a tea?” — and the friendly staff happily obliged. (^^)
The aroma alone was pure bliss. They served up a smooth, light coffee with just the right amount of bitterness, exactly how I love it. 😍

The two-layer cheesecake — handmade by the staff — was absolutely divine. The matcha layer adds a subtle, earthy Japanese twist that pairs beautifully with the coffee. Pure happiness! ♡♡

And here’s the café latte (500 yen).
That dreamy layer of foamed milk practically invites you to dive in. Sipping it slowly while gazing at the city view was pure magic.
