Today I’m excited to introduce you to
Komori, Nishihara Village, Aso District, Kumamoto Prefecture, home to
“chang-PLANT”, a wonderful little spice-forward curry spot.

Outside, you’ll find a lovely terrace with benches and tables,
so it looks like you can enjoy your meal al fresco too^^
(I forgot to confirm this with the staff… apologies!)

Inside, the shop has both table seating and counter seating.
The interior has a fresh, original feel that really reflects the owner’s personality and style ♪

Right as you walk in, there’s a stylish motorcycle on display along with some great photos —
it looks like the perfect hangout spot for fellow bikers ♪

Right next to the register you’ll see takeaway curry buns ♪
The markings of an oni (demon), elephant, and heart caught my eye —
they may indicate different flavor profiles or spice levels ( *´艸｀)

Since I went with takeout this time, I didn’t catch the entire menu,
but here are the main highlights ^^

chang Chicken Curry — 850 yen
Big Spare Rib Curry — 1,380 yen
Rare Steak Curry — 1,500 yen
Chicken Curry — 900 yen
Soft-Boiled Egg Topping — 100 yen
Papad — 100 yen and more

Just reading the menu of these mouth-watering curries is enough to make your stomach growl… ( *´艸｀)

This time I went with takeout and got the
Keema Curry — 500 yen!!

Besides keema, you can also take out the chicken curry ♪

It comes as a cup-style curry served over rice,
and when I lifted the lid, generous spice-loaded curry was piled high on top ( *´艸｀)

Can you see all the different spices in there?!
The keema curry is also packed with so much filling that
your first scoop is basically all toppings — no rice in sight!!!

Mix it thoroughly with the rice,
and the spicy curry pairs absolutely perfectly with each bite…

What’s more, the spice blend has both heat and rich umami,
so you can keep eating without ever getting tired of it.

The owner mentioned that keema is one of the easier curries for kids to enjoy ^^
And sure enough, my child happily devoured it ♪

Even the rice isn’t plain white — it’s fragrant turmeric rice!

Curry takeout is honestly the best.
A relaxed Aso lunch is hard to beat ( *´艸｀)
