  • Individual Membership (Gold Star Member)
    Annual fee: ¥4,400 (excl. tax) — the most basic membership tier!
    Anyone aged 18 or older can sign up, including students.
  • Business Membership
    Annual fee: ¥3,850 (excl. tax) — recommended for businesses and sole proprietors!
    Open to those aged 18 and older running restaurants, companies, or sole-proprietor businesses. You’ll need to bring supporting documents to register.
  • Executive Membership
    Annual fee: ¥9,900 (incl. tax) — Costco’s top tier, packed with perks for frequent shoppers!
    Executive members receive exclusive discount coupons for extra savings.
    Gold Star and Business Members can also upgrade to Executive at any time.

Costco Kumamoto Mifune: How to Get an Early-Bird Membership Card

In celebration of the new opening, an early-bird campaign offering ¥1,000 off the standard annual fee is currently running for new sign-ups.
The campaign runs until March 31, the day before the grand opening.

Once you have your membership card, you can shop not only at Costco Kumamoto Mifune,
but at any Costco worldwide, plus Costco Online.

You might be tempted to wait until after opening day, but expect big crowds — and registering on the spot will eat up serious time and energy.
We strongly recommend signing up in advance.

【Option 1】Fill out the application at the store and pick up your card there
【Option 2】Apply online first, then pick up your card at the store

  • New membership applications can be submitted online, but cards can only be picked up in-store.

《How to sign up early at Costco Kumamoto Mifune》
① Go to the membership registration page
https://www.costco.co.jp/membership
② Choose your membership type.③ In my case, I selected “Individual Membership Registration”
④ Then choose your membership tier.
⑤ Check the box for “Register using the Kumamoto Mifune Warehouse Early-Bird Discount” and a temporary registration form will appear.
⑥ Once you finish entering your details, a confirmation email will arrive at the address you specified.
Save the reception number from the email — you’ll need it later.

By the way, even if you head straight to the store, you’ll get a queue ticket at the entrance, and customers who completed the online pre-registration are called to the in-store counter first.

⑦ Visit the store, take a number, and wait for your turn at the counter.
⑧ Show your reception number from the email, and the staff will explain your card and the points-rewards system.
They’ll also take your photo for the card on the spot.
It’s a black-and-white shot, but you might want to tidy yourself up a bit before heading in!
Payment options were cash or Mastercard credit only.
Along with the card, I received this Costco catalog at the counter.
And finally — I have my Costco card in hand!
I was so excited I tried to snap a commemorative photo, but the sun was so bright I couldn’t open my eyes — and wow, the card looks tiny!
A bit of a lackluster shot, but I can’t wait for my Costco life to begin in April.
