Honjo, Chuo-ku, Kumamoto City:
【100 Premium Bakery SUMOMO】!

You’ll find this bakery along Route 3, directly across from Gin Shari-tei restaurant.
The sign might already look familiar to local drivers!

There’s a parking lot right in front of the shop, so it’s perfectly convenient if you’re traveling with kids.
When I visited, I saw a parent and child shopping together too! 😀

Heads up: plastic shopping bags cost extra in Japan, so bring your own if you can! 😃

Inside the store, you can also add more bread to your order on the spot 😍

The shop’s regular closing days are posted right at the entrance. Be sure to check before visiting!

I arrived at 9 a.m., and was greeted by an incredible variety of breads already on display.

And here’s the kicker: nearly every loaf and pastry is just 100 yen (about $0.70 USD)!! How exciting is that?! 🎉

And then… the bargain corner!!!
These are previous-day items, but you get 2 for just 100 yen.

The shelves were empty when I visited, but they apparently also stock Anpanman bread — a beloved Japanese cartoon hero adored by kids.
My own high-school-aged daughter still picks up Anpanman bread every chance she gets! 😅

There’s even a refrigerated case!
I was lucky enough to grab a chilled cream bun straight off the production line 😍

First up, the Mentaiko Cheese French.
The spicy cod roe was generously packed in, with a rich, bold flavor — absolutely delicious.

You know how some mentaiko breads barely taste of anything? This was the complete opposite — seriously satisfying.

Next, the Walnut Camembert.
I lightly toasted it — the walnuts inside added a lovely crunch, and the camembert melted into a warm, dreamy bite 😍

Then the Chicken Curry & Cheese Oyaki — also toasted before eating.

Curry isn’t a flavor many people dislike, and this one delivers a rich, satisfying curry punch.
Mild enough for kids too, so it’s a great pick for families!

And finally — the moment I’d been waiting for!
The Chilled Cream Bun!!

I’d been keeping it cold in the fridge all morning just for this 😍😍
The cream is rich and generous, not overly sweet — pure perfection!!
It melts away the day’s exhaustion in one bite 🥰

Honestly, I already want another one 😅
