Introducing Mifune no Ho × Fermera

Hello, this is Gachako, a writer for [Sarukuma].

Today we’re introducing a wonderful spot located in Masunaga, Arao City:
[Mifune no Ho × Fermera].

Have you heard of “Mifune no Ho”?

As the name suggests, this is a signature wheat brand from Mifune Town in Kumamoto Prefecture.
But this isn’t just any wheat — it’s durum wheat, a variety considered extremely difficult to grow in Japan, with nearly all supply traditionally coming from overseas.
Mifune Town took on this incredible challenge — pretty amazing, right?

Durum wheat is rich in high-quality protein and is known for its springy, chewy texture.
It’s most commonly used to make pasta.
Are you starting to feel hungry yet?

Through collaborations with carefully selected restaurants across Kumamoto Prefecture, you can now taste Mifune no Ho for yourself!
The period is short, so if you’re curious, don’t miss this opportunity to try it.

Recommended Menu Items at Mifune no Ho × Fermera

Sesame Focaccia (left in photo) and Whole Wheat Banana Bread (right in photo) — we tried both!

It’s made with carefully chosen ingredients including Mifune no Ho wheat, yeast cultivated from organic rice, natural amazake (sweet rice malt), and organic sesame.
The Sesame Focaccia is a savory, salt-kissed bread with a wonderfully chewy, mochi-like texture — perfect alongside any meal.

This is the Whole Wheat Banana Bread. Slowly fermented with natural yeast and packed full of organic bananas.
With whole wheat in the mix, it’s a great pick for anyone into gut-health-friendly eating, which is having quite a moment right now.

Mochi Choco Bread — yes, we tried this one too!

Studded with organic chocolate and naturally grown orange peel folded into the dough — a luxurious treat perfect for a grown-up Valentine’s Day.

Fun fact: I’m munching on this very bread as I write this article. Absolutely amazing.

The easy-to-eat stick-shaped Whole Wheat Biscotti.
These are made with organic almonds and cashews, making them a wholesome snack you can feel good about.
I set them out as a snack for the kids and they vanished in seconds.
