Introducing Uradou Shokudou Asuka

Today I’m taking you to a wonderful little restaurant tucked away in Chikami, Minami-ku, Kumamoto City—
【Uradou Shokudou Asuka】.This eatery is famous for its yurinchi (Chinese-style crispy fried chicken with tangy sauce).
It has glowing reviews on Google, and as a fried chicken lover myself, I just had to try it!
Located near Nogoshi Danchi housing complex, just look for the signboard and flag pictured here (^^)/
It sits one street off Route 3—a true hidden gem that locals know and love!Parking is available right in front of the restaurant.
However, expect it to be nearly full during lunchtime!There are also 3 additional parking spaces behind the restaurant.
Look for the “Uradou Shokudou Asuka” block markers so you don’t park in the wrong spot (^^)/
I visited around 1:00 PM on a weekday.
Only one other group was dining when I arrived, but more customers showed up almost immediately—so timing your visit can be tricky!
The interior offers counter seating,
and a traditional Japanese tatami zashiki area too! ♫
There are also regular table seats (no photo since other guests were dining there).“Our number-one bestseller is the yurinchi fried chicken!” the owner told me ♫

it was already sold out by 1:00 PM!There’s also a great variety of noodle dishes—udon, soba, and chanpon!

The kids’ menu only offers udon, but the price is unbeatable!
Main dishes are generously sized,
so depending on what you order, sharing is totally doable.

Bonus tip: the same menu is available at dinner too,
so if you missed out at lunch, come back in the evening!

The rice is a regular portion, but it’s slightly larger than average—small eaters might want to ask for less.
Since extra rice is 180 yen,
the kind okami (lady owner) actually asks every customer, “Would you like the large rice?” Such thoughtfulness! ♡Crispy golden chicken topped with a tangy, refreshing sauce.
There’s a hint of ginger that pairs perfectly with rice—you’ll be coming back for seconds!

The diner next to me actually had a large rice portion AND a refill!The miso soup is loaded with ingredients (●＾o＾●)

I left feeling so satisfied and full~ (#^.^#)When I paid the bill, the okami handed back my change with a cheerful, “Here’s your pocket money!” ♫

The restaurant has tons of regulars, and she chats warmly with everyone (^^)
