Introducing Curry House Hammer

Hello, travelers! I’m Aikero, a writer for [Sarukuma].

Today I’m taking you to Curry House Hammer, a hidden gem located inside Tasaki Market in Nishi Ward, Kumamoto City.
【Curry House Hammer】When most people think of Tasaki Market, fresh seafood probably comes to mind first, right?
If you’re craving seafood, the previously featured [Manei Shokudo] is another excellent choice!

But today, we’re shaking things up with curry instead!
And don’t be fooled — this is no ordinary curry ÎŁ(ω)!
Get this — Curry House Hammer has repeatedly earned a top-four spot at the “Curry King Championship,” a must-watch event for curry lovers in Kumamoto!
I’ve actually been here before, and since the winners are chosen by visitor votes, you know you’re tasting curry that’s beloved by serious curry fans♫
Now, the eternal question for Tasaki Market visitors: where do I park? (I can’t be the only one wondering!)
Good news — there’s plenty of parking available!
From the entrance on the Higo Bank Kumamoto Market Branch side, just head straight in.
Right in front of you, you’ll see the [Daikai Suisan] parking lot pictured here.
While the sign says “paid parking,” it’s actually free to use after 9:00 AM, so feel free to park here (*’ω’*)

From the parking lot, head back the way you came and you’ll spot a covered shopping arcade called [Ebisu-kai 2nd Street] on your left.
The shop is right at the entrance on the left side (^^)/The bright orange exterior makes it easy to spot♫
The owner mentioned that customers often ask, “Are you open?” so they’ve now installed a rotating warning light above the TAKEOUT sign on the left.
When the light is spinning, the shop is open for businessâ™Ș
The interior is a cozy, intimate space with just 8 counter seats.
The stools are a bit on the tall side, so families with small children should be aware (^^)Look — the Curry King Championship certificates on display!
Earning a top-four spot multiple times is seriously impressive (●o●)

The owner previously worked in the food industry, where she first started crafting her signature horse tendon curry.
When it came time to open her own place, she chose Tasaki Market because of how close it is to home.

And yes — general visitors are absolutely welcome!
Many people wonder, “Can regular folks even visit the market? It feels intimidating, and the parking is confusing
” — but rest assured, none of that should hold you back (*’ω’*)

Another nice touch: Curry House Hammer is run by a female owner and her staff, making it a comfortable, welcoming spot even if you’re dining solo as a womanâ™Ș

Curry House Hammer’s Recommended Menu

In the back, that’s the Green Curry, and in front is the two-curry combo of Horse Tendon and Coconut Chicken!
The moment it’s set down, the aromatic spices and sweet coconut scent send my appetite into overdrive ♡First up, the Horse Tendon Curry.
Mildly spicy with a deeply rich, savory roux.
The horse tendon falls apart tenderly with each bite — wonderfully satisfying!Next, the Coconut Chicken Curry.
The coconut aroma is unmistakable, but the flavor isn’t overpowering — really easy to enjoy♫
It’s creamy, and while I expected something mild, there’s a gentle heat too.
Paired with the pickled onions, the added tanginess freshens everything up beautifully (●o●)The Keema Curry, which the staff kindly offered as a sample.
The minced meat had more substantial chunks than I expected, and I think there were some beans mixed in too (^_^;)
With hints of spices and herbs, it had a distinctive, memorable flavor profile that set it apart from the others! With endless topping combinations to play with, Curry House Hammer lets you customize curry exactly to your taste.
It’s solo-friendly, and the kids’ menu makes it perfect for family lunches too (●o●)

For someone like me who loves sampling lots of flavors, the aigake combo plates are absolutely the way to goâ™Ș
You can even pick your rice portion, so it’s fun to fully customize your meal (*’ω’*)

Come taste the championship-winning curry that earned top-four honors at Kumamoto’s Curry King Championship!
