About the Bakery

Hello travelers! It’s Kurumikko from Sarukuma (^^)

Today I’m introducing you to
“Meritxell Stone Oven Bakery” (Ishigama Pan Kobo Meritxell), located in Shimosuzurikawa-machi, Kita Ward, Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture.
With its storybook-like exterior (*’∀’), this large, charming building immediately catches the eye ✨

There’s a spacious parking lot right out front, so it’s easy to drop by by car!

At the entrance, you’ll find both regular tongs and trays plus mini child-sized versions!

The kid-sized trays are nice and deep, which is super helpful!

Children get to feel like real customers and have a blast 🤩

The first thing that caught my eye after stepping inside was this!
Beef-Packed Curry Pan (170 yen)

A curry bun loaded with tender beef and vegetables, slowly simmered to perfection.
Just reading the description was enough to make my mouth water (*’∀’)

Each one is wrapped in its own little paper bag, which made me even more curious about what was inside (*´▽`*)

There were also fun character-shaped breads that kids would love.

Chocolate Anpanman (160 yen)
Kurosuke (100 yen)

Sweet treats include Pooh-san’s Snack, Fromage French, Raisin Cream Cheese, and Sweet Raisin.

They also have Danish pastries, Mont Blanc, and the bakery’s signature cheesecake!
It’s a real treat that you can grab desserts at a bakery, too!

Everything looks so good — your eyes will dart from one shelf to the next (*’∀’)

The savory selection is just as impressive!
Chinese-Style Chicken Breast & Lotus Root Deli Sandwich

Teriyaki Cheeseburger

Thick-Cut Pork Cutlet (Rosu Katsu) Sandwich

Perfect for when you want something hearty and satisfying!

Beyond these, there’s a wide range of breads coming out of the oven one after another (*´▽`*)

Plus, customers who make a purchase get a complimentary drink!

Recommended Menu

This time I tried the Beef-Packed Curry Pan,
the Chinese-Style Chicken Breast & Lotus Root Deli Sandwich,
and the Condensed Milk Cream Bun.

When I took the Beef-Packed Curry Pan (160 yen) out of the bag,
it felt soft and pillowy in my hand.
The rich, velvety curry filling is super generous (*´▽`*)
And when you bite in, the crust is delightfully crisp and crunchy!

The texture of the onions in the curry is fantastic — you can tell instantly why this is a customer favorite!
The chunky pieces of beef are wonderfully tender, too!

Chinese-Style Chicken Breast & Lotus Root Deli Sandwich (260 yen)

The chicken breast and lotus root are layered alternately, so every bite delivers a fun mix of textures ♪
The sweet-and-savory seasoning blends beautifully with paprika, eringi mushrooms, and lettuce — absolutely delicious!

It’s the kind of flavor you’ll find yourself craving again (*’â–½’*)
Condensed Milk Cream Bun (130 yen)
It comes wrapped in an adorable cow-print bag!

The bag tears down the middle, making it easy for little hands to hold and eat ☺
The textured condensed milk cream pairs beautifully with the soft bread — every bite is pure joy (*’â–½’*)

I bought this one for my child, but…
“Just one little taste!” turned into… well, mom finished the whole thing 🤣

The clean, refreshing sweetness made it impossible to stop (´▽`*)

I’ll definitely be back with the kids again (‘â—‡’)ゞ!!
With such a varied selection, even choosing what to buy is half the fun at this wonderful bakery!
