Welcome to Usagi Nouen Stand

Hello everyone! This is Kurubushi, your friendly writer at [Sarukuma]☆彡

Today I’m excited to introduce a stylish little prefab shop called Usagi Nouen Stand, which recently opened inside Ruro Koshi in Koshi City.

Doesn’t it look chic?

Usagi Nouen is a farm in Koshi City that grows colorful, delicious vegetables one by one — without using chemical fertilizers or chemical pesticides.

Their philosophy: nourish both heart and body through good “food.”

It’s hard to believe this gorgeous spot is an unmanned vegetable stand!

So lovely!

Inside, the vending machine offers:

Rice flour waffles (2 pcs) — 600 yen

Frozen rice flour donuts (4 pcs) — 600 yen

Frozen amazake with kinako (roasted soy flour) flavor — 1,080 yen

Frozen amazake — 980 yen

Rice flour pancake mix, rice flour, and brown rice pasta

Beet dressing — 700 yen

Ginger-pork stir-fry sauce — 750 yen

Onion dressing — 650 yen

Baked rice flour donuts (variety pack, 4 pcs) — 800 yen

Cup-style baked rice flour donuts (5 pcs) — 800 yen

(Kinako, cinnamon, plain)

Rice flour waffles — 600 yen

Rice flour gateau chocolat — 700 yen

Snowball cookies

Basque cheesecake

(Some items may be out of season.)

And for rice toppings, there’s:

Edible ginger — 800 yen, Nin-take (garlic mushroom) — 800 yen, Nin-kara (spicy garlic).

Honestly, I want to try every single one!

Kujo green onions — 250 yen
Wrapped in newspaper — exactly the look of farm-fresh vegetables.
Jerusalem artichokes — 300 yen

Each veggie comes with a little caption suggesting how to cook it — super helpful!

Carrots — 250 yen

On this visit they had the familiar orange variety, but apparently colorful carrots show up on other days too!

BOSS, my carrot-loving little one,

could not stop smiling.

Since the stand is unmanned and rarely crowded, families can browse at their own pace♪

Nishiyutaka potatoes — 200 yen

Leeks — 300 yen
It was actually my first time seeing a leek! It’s part of the onion family — a Western-style green onion that becomes incredibly sweet when cooked.

Shimonita green onions — 250 yen
Sweet whether boiled or grilled — highly recommended.

Beni-shigure radish — 200 yen
A purple radish! How rare!

Frilly kale — 200 yen
It looks like parsley at first glance, but it’s actually a cute frilly kale!Beniharuka & Annō sweet potatoes — 300 yen
A must-buy snack for kids during the season.

Look how many you get for just 300 yen!

Honestly cheaper than the supermarket.

The kale was labeled “sauté before eating,” but I love kale salads, so I tried it raw — zero bitterness, only deep, sweet flavor. So good!

You also get plenty of carrots!

I washed one and ate it raw with the skin on — the rich, vibrant carrot aroma made it clear these were grown with love and energy.

I picked up Brussels sprouts on a separate visit — 200 yen.

This was my first encounter with leeks.
For unusual vegetables like this, Usagi Nouen also shares cooking ideas on their Instagram.

It’s a lifesaver — we’ve all bought something interesting and then thought, “…now what?”

So, inspired by Instagram, I made pork-wrapped leeks.

Total winner. Insanely tasty. Vanished in seconds.
Cavolo nero (black cabbage)
A traditional Italian cabbage. Another rare find!

Rice flour donuts — 600 yen

You absolutely have to try these.
Please, please, please buy them!!

They’re nothing like any rice flour donut you’ve had before.

Fluffy, moist, and unbelievably delicious!

After my first bite, I thought “Wait — surely this has wheat flour in it,” and flipped the package over to check the ingredients.

Nope, no wheat.

Another bite…

Flipped it over again.

Still rice flour…

Right? It’s truly mind-blowing how good they are.

The next day I had plans to visit a friend, so I rushed back to buy some as a gift.

Honestly, my child usually refuses anything labeled “rice flour,” but loved these so much they kept begging, “More, please! Let’s go buy donuts!”

Onion dressing — 650 yen

The moment you open the lid, you’ll “know it’s amazing” — guaranteed.

It’s a dressing, but apparently it’s also fantastic spread on a baguette.

I tossed the frilly kale and carrots into a salad.

The garlic punch and grated onion combo was so addictive that I just kept munching away.

Use it as a dip with veggie sticks and you might never stop eating…

Open 24 hours, so you can swing by anytime — a huge plus.

One small heads-up:

Since this is a vending machine plus an unmanned vegetable stand, the vending machine doesn’t accept 10,000 yen bills.

And the vegetable stand doesn’t give change, so bring small coins (50 yen, 100 yen, etc.).

You know how it goes when you’re with kids — “Oh no, where do I get change?!” “WAAAH!” — so be prepared!

Of course we want delicious meals for ourselves, but we especially want our kids to taste real, lovingly grown vegetables, right?♪

It’s a wonderful intro to food education.

Definitely give it a visit!♪
