Welcome to Kashiya Kotorino

Hello travelers! It’s Mofumofu, a writer for [Sarukuma].

Today I’m introducing a delightful little sweets shop called Kashiya Kotorino, located in Naganominehigashi, Higashi Ward, Kumamoto City.

This adorable confectionery shop opened on May 10, 2023 (Wednesday) in a quiet residential neighborhood β™‘

Sorry the angle is a bit awkward β€” it was tricky to capture from the front!

Autumn is the season of appetite β™‘ (Maybe a bit early to say that? Haha)

I had a serious craving for something sweet, so off I went!

There are two parking spaces right in front of the shop!

And there’s even a carport, so you don’t have to worry about rainy days β™ͺ

With my heart pounding in anticipation, I stepped inside.

Oh my β™‘
So many beautiful sweets on display…♑

They sell out fast, so I highly recommend going early or placing an order in advance!

Now, let me show you what they have!

β—‰ Chiffon Sandwich Cake (Coffee) β€” 300 yen (excl. tax)

β—‰ Chiffon Sandwich Cake (Shine Muscat) β€” 340 yen (excl. tax)

β—‰ Rich Gateau au Chocolat β€” 200 yen (excl. tax)

β—‰ Chocolate Marble Cheese Tart β€” 330 yen (excl. tax)

β—‰ Peach Panna Cotta β€” 340 yen (excl. tax)

β—‰ Cheese Pudding β€” 280 yen (excl. tax)

β—‰ Custard Pie β€” 200 yen (excl. tax)

β—‰ Kotorino Cookie Choux (No.1 bestseller) β€” 230 yen (excl. tax)

This was the lineup when I visited around noon in early September!

They also have macarons (160 yen each + tax) and chiffon cakes…

And palmiers (110 yen + tax) too!

I was so distracted by the cakes that I completely forgot to grab any macarons (haha)!
The cake selection changes daily, so be sure to check their Instagram before visiting 🎡

Kashiya Kotorino β€” Recommended Menu

Even though prices are climbing everywhere these days, the sweets here are very reasonable, so I went a little wild 🍰✨

β—‰ Chiffon Sandwich Cake (Shine Muscat)

β—‰ Rich Gateau au Chocolat

β—‰ Peach Panna Cotta

β—‰ Kotorino Cookie Choux (No.1)

β—‰ Custard Pie

That’s what I picked up this time!

Every single one was incredible, but…
my absolute favorite was the Custard Pie!!!

Can you see it!?

Layers and layers of flaky pastry stuffed with rich, creamy custard β™‘

One bite and I was completely hooked β€” gone in seconds (haha)!

Next up β€” the Peach Panna Cotta β™‘
Loaded with real fruit, and the panna cotta itself melts beautifully on your tongue!

Pure happiness β™‘

I just kept eating!

To be honest, I love sweets but usually one piece is enough for me β€” I was a little worried I couldn’t finish them all. But Kotorino’s cakes? I could honestly eat dozens of them, no joke!

Anyway, back to the star β€” the No.1 Cookie Choux!

Crispy on the outside, generously stuffed with cream on the inside, and a gentle sweetness that warmed my soul πŸ₯°

The Shine Muscat Chiffon Sandwich Cake is unbelievably fluffy!!!

Since they only sell what’s freshly made that day (no freezing!), the texture is just pillow-soft ✨

For the grand finale, I treated myself to the Rich Gateau au Chocolat 🍫

Me, the person who normally gets full after one piece, somehow ate FIVE in a single day (yeah, I know, too much, haha)!
Writing this article is making me crave that Custard Pie all over again, so I’ll definitely be heading back soon ☺️ (Not flattery β€” I’m dead serious.)

Kashiya Kotorino’s opening days vary from month to month.

In September, they appear to be open Fridays and Saturdays! Schedules can change, so please check their Instagram Stories for the latest updates β™ͺ
