About Eco Park Minamata (Ocean Zone)

Hello travelers! This is Asukarando, writing for [Sarukuma].

Today we’re heading to Shiomi-machi, Minamata City, to explore
[Eco Park Minamata β€” Ocean Zone].

Eco Park Minamata is enormous, divided into four themed areas: the Mountain Zone, Village Zone, Town Zone, and Ocean Zone.
Today, we’re spotlighting the Ocean Zone (^Π·^)-β˜†

The land where Eco Park Minamata stands today has an important history. It was created by reclaiming the bay to safely contain mercury-contaminated sediment from Minamata Bay β€” the source of the historic Minamata disease.
Now beautifully maintained, it has been transformed into a welcoming public space where everyone can gather and enjoy the outdoors (^^)

Because Eco Park Minamata is so spacious, there’s plenty of parking available throughout the grounds (^^)

If you’re heading to the Ocean Zone, we recommend the “Children’s Plaza Parking Lot,” which you’ll spot by driving straight past the front of Michi-no-Eki Minamata roadside station β˜†

There are restrooms right in front of the parking lot.

And right next to the restrooms, you’ll find vending machines for drinks and refreshments (^^)

There are also restrooms inside the park itself, so you can relax and stay as long as you like. The seashell-shaped roof over this rest area makes you feel a little like a mermaid (^-^)v

There are several other covered rest areas scattered around the park as well.

Highlights of Eco Park Minamata (Ocean Zone)

The first thing that catches your eye is this unique rope swing β€” a first for me!

Maybe a hammock-style swing?

It even comes with a safety belt, so younger children can play with peace of mind (^^)

And check out this roller slide!!

It’s set at a low height that’s easy for adults to keep an eye on, so you can comfortably watch little ones zoom down.

There’s even an adventure structure that looks like dinosaur fossils (^Π·^)-β˜†

There are drums and other sound-making playground pieces too β€” kids can run around or stop to make music, and they all looked like they were having a blast (^^)

And the spring riders are all ocean-themed β€” adorable!

Maybe elementary schoolers can climb this? It’s a huge triangular jungle gym made of ropes!

Something to look forward to as kids grow a little bigger… (*^.^*)

There are also plenty of play structures designed for younger toddlers (^^)

There’s just so much fun packed into this place!
We couldn’t show you everything, but we promise this seaside-inspired park β€” Eco Park Minamata’s Ocean Zone β€” is guaranteed to keep families entertained for a full day οΌΌ(^_^)(^_^)/
