About Hanazono Kokashita Machi no Hiroba

Today’s spotlight falls on a delightful little gem located in Hanazono, Nishi-ku, Kumamoto City:
【Hanazono Kokashita Machi no Hiroba】 — the Hanazono Plaza Under the Tracks.

Where local railway tracks once ran at ground level, the line has now been elevated — with both local trains and the Shinkansen bullet train zipping by overhead.
The clever folks behind this project transformed the empty space beneath into a charming little park, and I just had to share it with you! (^o^)/

Roads run along both ends of the park and traffic can pick up depending on the time of day, but the entire space is securely fenced in — so kids can play freely without worry. (^-^)

There’s even a handwashing station! (^-^)

The flower beds are filled with gorgeous blooms (*^^*). Clearly well looked after, they were putting on a beautiful show during my visit! (^^)v

For parking, there’s a coin-operated lot about a 2-minute walk away. (^-^)

Benches line the perimeter of the park, perfect for resting your feet. (^^)v

Why Hanazono Kokashita Machi no Hiroba is Worth a Visit

Here’s something you don’t see every day!

The park is stocked with tricycles and ride-on toy cars — the kind you’d usually find at indoor children’s centers — and kids make a beeline straight for them!!!

There are adorable swings, too! (*^^*)

A small slide perfectly scaled for little ones rounds out the lineup. (*^^*)

The compact size is just right for tiny tots! (^o^)/

So many ride-on cars to choose from!!

And tricycles in every shape and color!

Some tricycles even come fitted with safety guards to prevent tumbles, so parents can relax while the little ones ride. (*^^*)

There are also gentle-bounce spring riders.
The animal designs are seriously cute!!
