Today I’d like to introduce a wonderful spot located in Hirayama-machi, Higashi-ku, Kumamoto City:
[Kumamoto Prefectural Sports Park – Otanoshimi Hiroba (Fun Plaza)].

Previously on “SaruKuma,” our writer ‘Gussan’ introduced the Chibikko Hiroba (Kids’ Plaza),
but this time we’re highlighting the Otanoshimi Hiroba (Fun Plaza)!

[Kumamoto Prefectural Sports Park Chibikko Hiroba] Nature and Playground Equipment! A Park Where Adults and Kids Can Play All Day! [Ishihara, Higashi-ku, Kumamoto City]

The parking lot is wonderfully spacious.
Here’s the sports park information board.
The Otanoshimi Hiroba is located beyond the athletic stadium.
Walk in the direction of the athletic stadium.
Cross the bridge.
Then up ahead, you’ll spot the ‘Ikoi no Hiroba’ (Relaxation Plaza).
This area is also beautifully maintained and spacious – perfect for ball games and outdoor play!
There are vending machines available.
And restrooms,
and inside this restroom, there’s even a diaper changing table!
Here is the ‘Otanoshimi Hiroba’ (Fun Plaza).
Along the slope, you’ll find lots of fitness equipment.
However, please note that this fitness equipment is ‘designed for adults’.
The size won’t really suit small children.
For grown-ups, though, it’s a fantastic workout – highly recommended!

There are slides for kids to enjoy,
a Tarzan rope swing,
animal-shaped ride-ons,

and even a rope jungle gym.

Of course, there are gazebos and benches too!

Compared to the Chibikko Hiroba, the Otanoshimi Hiroba has fewer playground items, so think of it this way:
‘Chibikko Hiroba is for babies and younger kids’,
‘Otanoshimi Hiroba is for older kids (juniors)’.

Our top pick is the ‘artificial turf grass skiing slope (gerende)’!
Just look at it!
It’s so massive that it doesn’t even fit in the photo!

My son was having such a blast that
he slid down again and again, completely hooked!
You’ll be hard-pressed to find another park with such a magnificent grass skiing slope – the ‘Otanoshimi Hiroba’ is truly one of a kind!!!

It’s a park that even elementary school-aged kids will fully enjoy!
