Introducing Hirayama Pizza

Hello travelers! I’m Gachako, a writer for [Sarukuma].

Today I’m excited to introduce a wonderful spot in the famous Hirayama Onsen hot spring area of Yamaga City:
[Hirayama Pizza].

This pizzeria is run by “Kunsei Koubou En” (Smoking Workshop En), a craft smokehouse that has previously appeared at Sarukuma events.
It opened in December 2022!

There’s a spacious parking lot right on the property.
As soon as you walk in, you’re greeted by an impressive, eye-catching authentic Neapolitan pizza oven taking center stage.

The relaxed, calming interior offers both table seating and counter seating, and high chairs for children are available too.

Reservations aren’t strictly required, but they are highly recommended as priority is given to guests with bookings.

The menu features just one option: a 2,500 yen lunch course.

The course includes salad, pizza, a drink, and gelato. For the pizza, you choose one from six varieties: Margherita, Ener Bacon, Romana, Marinara, Ener Sausage, and Quattro Formaggi.

There’s also a kids’ course featuring a half-size pizza.
While not on the menu, they can also accommodate special requests like tuna corn mayo pizza – perfect for picky little eaters!

Hirayama Pizza Recommended Menu

I tried the Pizza Lunch Course. The meal began with a fresh salad.
On this day, we were also treated to a complimentary warm soup as a special service.
The house-made bacon was generous and packed with rich, savory flavor!

Next came the Hashiru Buta (Running Pig) sausage griddle plate, and…

…the Hashiru Buta kombu-wrapped fillet ham as another special treat. (This ham was so incredibly good that I bought some from the workshop’s shop in the back to take home!)

For the main, I had the Ener Bacon pizza, and…

…shared a Quattro Formaggi with my friend.
The pizzas are generously sized – we left feeling completely satisfied!

Loaded with quality toppings. And because every single ingredient is exceptional, the result is undeniably delicious.

The course finishes with two scoops of gelato: an additive-free roasted sweet potato gelato from LATO Farm, and the beloved milk gelato from Yumemiruku Yoshii.
Pure happiness.
A pizza course lunch after a relaxing soak at the hot springs made for the most perfect day off.

At the shop in the back, you can also purchase artisanal smoked products.
Everything is exceptionally tasty – they make perfect souvenirs or gifts to take home.

Hirayama Pizza is worth going out of your way for – be sure to add it to your Kumamoto travel itinerary!
