Today I’m introducing “Happy Chicken,” located in Matsuyama-machi, Uto City, Kumamoto Prefecture.

The brand-new signage and fresh atmosphere told me right away this was a newly opened spot — I just had to stop by! (´∀｀)

This takeout shop opened just this April, serving curry, karaage (Japanese fried chicken), and bento boxes! 👏👏👏

You’ll find it along the Old Route 3 (Kyu-Sangō-sen).

Parking is right in front of the shop.

Ordering is done via a meal ticket machine — a classic Japanese style!

You can wait at these seats! Since they just opened, beautiful kochō-ran (moth orchids) sent as celebratory gifts were on display. 🌼*･

This time I went with the Masala Curry Set — 650 yen ♪

Perfect for me — I get to enjoy both their signature curry AND karaage! 😋

This is authentic Indian-style curry 🇮🇳, blended from individual spices! (^O^)

The spices pack a punch — spicy and seriously delicious! 🔥🔥🔥

This chicken curry is simmered using only the natural moisture from the vegetables — no water added — giving it an incredibly rich, deep umami flavor. 😍 Fair warning: it’s quite spicy!

And then there’s the shop’s pride and joy — the karaage.

Marinated in shio-koji (a traditional fermented rice-malt seasoning), the chicken comes out incredibly tender with bold flavor that holds its own against the curry! 😍

By the time I finished, the spices had me breaking a slight sweat — exactly the kind of curry that’s perfect for the warmer months ahead! 🌞🌴✨

The Green Curry is said to be milder thanks to the coconut milk.
Next time I’ll definitely try the Green Curry! Be sure to give Happy Chicken a taste yourself! ＼(^o^)／
