About the Cafe

Today we’re heading to
“YARD”, a charming cafe located in
Ezu, Higashi-ku, Kumamoto City.

Just look for this signboard along the East Bypass ↑

The parking lot looked roomy, but at lunchtime it was almost completely full!

This is the entrance to the complex.

Once inside, head left and you’ll find the cafe entrance.

We arrived just past noon without a reservation — and faced a one-hour wait!

The staff offered to call us once a table opened up,
so we left our contact info and headed out the back to explore.

There’s an open square out back where kids can run around freely.

You can also browse and try out the camping gear on display.

Between exploring boutiques and lifestyle shops, an hour flew by!

Here’s a peek at the interior — there’s even cozy sofa seating!

They kindly brought out a child-sized chair and tableware for our little one — and even those looked stylish!

The staff were warm and welcoming throughout our visit.

The Monthly Special Set Meal (¥1,650 + tax) is especially tempting!

The pasta and curry classics also look delicious — there’s something for everyone!

The meat dishes come with your choice of bread or rice.

Don’t miss the Dutch Baby — a savory oven-baked pancake that’s hard to find elsewhere in Kumamoto!

There’s a Kids Plate too at a wallet-friendly ¥560 + tax.

This time we ordered the
Keema Curry (¥950 + tax).

Rich in tomato with a touch of natural sweetness — gentle enough for kids to enjoy!

The Kids Plate features the same Keema Curry, with a curry-spiced potato side that adds a nice flavor twist.

The colorful presentation is absolutely Instagram-worthy!

The salad and soup were equally delightful. A bright, tangy dressing tied everything together beautifully.

YARD is the kind of place where even the wait is part of the fun.
