Welcome to Omusubi Kitchen

Hello travelers! This is Asukarando, writer for [Sarukuma].

Today I’m excited to introduce you to a charming little spot in Shimizu Shinchi, Kita Ward, Kumamoto City —
【Omusubi Kitchen】.

Omusubi Kitchen was previously featured by writer Binako-san, but I heard they’ve added some exciting new menu items, so I had to come back and share an update with you all (^-^)v

Good news for drivers — there’s a parking lot right in front of the shop (^^)

At the counter, you’ll find an order sheet —
you simply jot down how many bento boxes you’d like and what kind. Easy peasy! (^^)

Just beyond the window, you can see the kitchen at work. My little one couldn’t stop sniffing the delicious aromas while we waited on the lobby chairs! (((^^;)

Here’s a peek at Omusubi Kitchen’s mouthwatering menu (*^.^*)

・Karaage (Japanese fried chicken) — Garlic Soy Sauce: 560 yen
Salt with Lemon Flavor: 560 yen

・French Fries (Salt or BBQ): 150 yen

・Sweet Potato Chips (Salt or Kinako soybean flour): 300 yen

・Karaage Bento: 600 yen / Large size: +100 yen

・Beef Steak Rice Bowl (Garlic Sauce or Gravy Sauce): 1,000 yen ※ Limited to 20 servings per day

And there’s even more — they’ve added several new dishes since opening!

Just look at those vibrant colors! (^3^)/

Pork Belly, Chinese Chive & Egg Rice Bowl: 750 yen

And the brand-new menu item!

Soy Meat Dry Curry: 800 yen

Kimagure (Chef’s Choice) Bento: 730 yen — reservation required by the day before

Packed full of the chef’s whimsical, ever-changing side dishes!

Hors d’oeuvre Platters (3 days advance reservation required)

They’ll customize the platter to match your budget and the number of guests — perfect for parties or special events! (^3^)/

And on the counter, an eye-catching message caught my attention —
“Reduces your guilt!” Wow, what a clever line!

Omusubi Kitchen Original Blend Herbal Tea: 110 yen

Ice Cream: 250 yen

Sherbet: 300 yen

Imagine dipping those crispy sweet potato chips into a scoop of ice cream — sounds amazing, right? (^-^)

Omusubi Kitchen’s Recommended Menu

This visit, I went with —
Soy Meat Dry Curry: 800 yen

The moment I lifted the lid, a gentle, warm curry aroma filled the air —
chunky vegetables galore, topped with crispy fried lotus root, eggplant, tomato, and edamame in a rainbow of colors. Talk about a perfectly balanced healthy meal!

Photos can’t quite capture it, but both the rice and curry sauce were generously heaped — the box felt heavy in hand! (^-^)v

Are you sure this isn’t real meat?! It was even softer than meat, and easy for kids to eat too~

Soy meat, carrots, tomato, bamboo shoots… every chopped ingredient adds a different texture and flavor — it’s seriously delicious! (^3^)/

The rice was incredible too — and no wonder, the menu mentioned they use Aso Koshihikari rice, one of Kumamoto’s most famous premium rice varieties grown in the Aso region! (^3^)/

I shared it with my child, and there was so much food we left feeling completely satisfied!

Delicious AND good for you — it doesn’t get any better than this (^-^)v

It nourished both body and soul~ (*^.^*)

There’s a fenced-in grassy area with a parasol set up on sunny days — a lovely little eat-in space where kids can enjoy ice cream and treats. With the parking lot right next door, the fence makes it a safe, worry-free spot to relax!

If you’re traveling with kids and looking for a great takeout option in Kumamoto, definitely give Omusubi Kitchen a try! (^^)/\(^^)
