Today I’m excited to introduce a coastal favorite in Shimoamoda-machi, Uto City, Kumamoto Prefecture — Okoshiki Shokudo at Michi-no-Eki Uto Marina!

It’s tucked inside Michi-no-Eki Uto Marina, a popular roadside station overlooking the Ariake Sea!

You can use the spacious roadside station parking lot, so finding a spot is never a problem (≧▽≦)!

As soon as you enter the roadside station, the restaurant is right on your right!

Order at the meal ticket machine first — a classic Japanese restaurant experience (*^▽^*)

When your meal is ready, your ticket number will be called out.

There are also kid-friendly dishes, chopsticks, and spoons available — perfect for families ♪

Inside, you’ll find both table and counter seating,

plus a few outdoor tables for dining with a view (*^▽^*)

The day we visited was beautifully sunny — absolute bliss!

Must-Try Dishes at Okoshiki Shokudo

Here’s the menu!
It’s a seafood lover’s paradise (≧▽≦)

Whenever my husband and I come here, this is always our go-to order!

Cuttlefish Kakiage Donburi (with clam soup) — 900 yen!

It comes topped with two enormous kakiage tempura (=ﾟωﾟ)ﾉ!

It’s so generous you’ll be stuffed by the end, but it’s far too delicious to leave anything behind — we always polish off the whole bowl!

The clam miso soup that comes with it is rich with the aroma of fresh asari clam broth ♡

And here’s what my son ordered — Seafood Kakiage Udon — 700 yen!

After your meal, you can let the kids play in the seaside plaza, browse the local products at the roadside station, or grab soft serve ice cream and freshly baked melon bread from the nearby shops — there’s plenty here to enjoy a full day! 🎵

It’s about a 45-minute drive from central Kumamoto City when traffic is light!
